to the best of my knowledge: diamond star motors = dsm, so that includes anything built by them, not neccesarily chrysler eagle [talon], dodge [stealth], or mitsubishi [3000gt/eclipse]. the cars you mentioned are more commonly refered to as dsm's in the racing scene because they are all the same, so instead of refering to an eagle/eclipse, you can just say dsm and cover them both.

yes you are right DSM = Diamond Star Motors... although it is where Mitsubishi and Chrysler merged, Diamond = Mitsubishi and Star = Chrysler and they both combined to make the motor, so thats what Diamond Star Motors means. yes a talon and an eclipse are DSMs!!!

It's not about the engine in the cars, it means whatever cars the company DSM made, which are T/E/L and some say galant as well.

to get more technical, 2Gs arent technically DSMs
Since DSM broke up in 94-95
them MMA(Mitsubishi Motors of America) took over

Edit: I think I missed a "M"

Read this:

http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/answers-makeandmodel.htm#whatexactlyisaDSM

as for if 2Gs are or are not, I believe in the following thought:
"2G cars are considered DSMs because they are direct descendants of the original DSM cars. Although they were technically not built by Diamond Star Motors, their connection to the original line is unmistakable, as they share the name, trim levels and original intention of the 1G cars.

Also, some early 95 cars have DSM labeling on them, leading many to believe that all 2Gs were built by Diamond Star Motors. This is not the case, as Diamond Star Motors officially ceased to exist in mid-1993, when Chrysler sold off all of its Mitsubishi holdings, technically making the 1994 cars the last of the DSMs. This type of hair-splitting is not important for Club purposes, however, and the Club has decided that 2Gers have as much right to be included as earlier owners."

i thought that Diamond Star Motors ceased to exist after 96 with the end of the talon. the 97-99 were actually non-DSM DSM's. my 95 GSX has the DSM stickeres from when it came out of the factory. but it was built in january of 95. this was just what i had read i could be wrong.

the talon actually ends in 1998

CODE4s quote above is from a very trustworthy source ;) Eagle just happened to crap out in 98. Nothing to do with dSM by then. My 95 has the DSM plaque also, built in june of 95. Officially they are not DSms, but in effect they are. Same driveline, etc. Just like the quote above from the vfaqs or 10000aaqs says.

I'll answer this in the hopes that your next post will be proof-read by an individual with a HS education before it is submitted.

That particular 96 might have a 95 build date. Check the door sills.

Don't back talk me, son. Just because I take the time to type like I have an education, doesn't mean I'm a doctor...it means I take pride in doing things right.
