My friend has a 2002 gt and wants to know all of the low budget mods he can do. He already reworked all of his exaust and we pulled the front sway bar for a better launch but what can be done to the engine for little to no money???

Remove the intake snorkle from inside the right fender, bump your timing up to 14 degrees and most imporntant learn to drive. I'm not saying you can't most rookies don't realize how much better their timeslip will be with a percise launch and an ability to consistantly powershift

cuz u cant see if the cats are off. u can see if theres no exhaust.

Low cost mods to go fast- hmm kinda contradicts each other.
Timing adjuster, Gears, lose weight.

What is the point of this post? I'm confused as to what your trying to get across? Cats are restrictive, so running an off road pipe, will free up some power and make for a different sound, with mufflers. If you have no exhaust, just open headers, you are then losing all kinds of torque from lack of back pressure. Granted reducing back pressure helps, but there becomes a point were too little back pressure will hurt performance.

that it tru. i wouldnt go open headers on a farely modded car.

Disregard what I said about the snorkle and timing. Just notice you were talking about 2002, that only works on a 5.0. My bad.

ok why do top fuel draggers run open headers?

ok why do top fuel draggers run open headers?

cuz they probaly run turbos or a supercharger. there not gonna lose much low end power than say ur car would.

You have to remember that top fuel drag cars are not you typical street driven vehicles. They operate under a whole different set of variables and have different goals for performance. With the amount of power they make, a little low end torque lost outweighs the amount of higher rpm power they will gain.

ok this is what we have done to it so far: 70mm tb, hollowed out the cats eliminated the mufflers, k&n air cleaner, 70mm MAF, how do you change the timing on that thing ? like I said this is for a friend I don't know a whole lot about the new ford motors. Oh last saturday he let me get behind the wheel and I ran 3 consistant 13.9s is that good or not for this year car?

you have to buy a stedda timing adjuster or buy a diablo sport chip and program it digitally
