Help me to choose between a 996 Convertible and a 993 Targa

Hello all, like many, I have been dreaming to own a 911 for years. Well, I have now identified two cars that I like but can not decide.

One is a 1997 993 Targa with 58k miles for $39000, the other one is a 1999 996 Convertible with 62k miles for $37000. Both a manual and guard reds and one owner cars. THe 996 comes with the hard top.

I love the 993 design, classic touch and apparent simplicity. I am concerned by the potential long term reliability or cost of mainetance for a 996. Yet, the book price for both car is not the same and if the seller of the 993 does not reduce his price, I'll go with the 996.

Any opinions?
THanks

I am not going to help you in anything. If you can afford a Porsche then you are old enough to make these decisions on your own. The internet has been the downfall for humankind since it allows people to retrieve information through others and not by one's self.

I say 993 as well, but it should also be your own choice. The 996 doesn't have many problems if any at the moment. Some 993 may have clutch problems, this means replacement of clutchs every 48,000 miles or so but you choose do some backround stuff for yourself. Good Luck!
