starting problems

i have a 350 iroc-z when i start it up in the morning it starts fine but dies out quick but if i turn it to acssories and hear the fuel pump it starts fine. but if i start the car in the morning and give alil bit of gas its fine its like i have to give it alil bit of gas to start it and its fine. but if i drive the car for lil bit stop for like fine mins i can get back in the car and start it right up no probs. what do you think it would be? any help please. :banghead:

Sounds like a cold start problem. I'm not sure but does TPI have cold start injectors?

yes i heard they do have a cold start injector the 9th one

um, whoa, what year is it, because if its an 89 or newer, it dont have the 9th injector, it has cold start enrichment programmed into the computer for longer pulse width. 88 and earlier has the 9th injector. im having the exact same problem with my 89 IROC, could be any number of things, here is what im looking at thus far, ill let ya know if anything pans out.
-IAC valve
-MAF sensor
-ICM
-PCV
-Ignition coil
i also have no codes, but hey, you might as well check your car to see if you have any. if you dont know how, ill be happy to post how to do it, or someone else will probly beat me to it ;)

naw, havent had alot of time, and cant get the IAC valve out to look at it, socket wont fit, and wrench wont fit, ill have to take the throttle body off to get to it. see if its bad or just needs cleaning. i did do a test on it, and if i did the test right, the IAC is bad, but then again, it could just have a blockage, or a build up on it and just need a cleaning. but untill i pull it, cant say for sure. so thats a saturday project.

:) absolutely, although it got bumped, i got better projects, taking ashleigh out for a photoshoot, and then leah is coming in from her european vacation that evening, then the D.C. carshow so the IROC got bumped, ah well. life is so hard. :)
