My Exhaust Falling Apart!

My '97 GLE exhaust is nearly finished. The heat shield fell off the cat the other day the rezonator is rotten and so is the muffler! It's ony got 55k miles on it but this car has lived its entire life in the worst of the salt belt. Factory parts look like they will cost about a thousand bucks!! Why didn't Nissan make this stuff out of stainless steel? Even if it was made of 409 stainless it would be better that the crap that's on their now. I'm not looking to hot rod it so I don't want to buy an expensive GReady, HKS or Stillen system so what are my alternatives? Thanks Matt

there have pretty good products with reasonable prices. For a full setup, you're looking at ~$700, but DONT quote me!

www.budgetexhaust.com very cheap. all prices are in canadian so you can count on it being like 30% cheaper than it is listed.

remember that cheaper isn't always better.......for the simple reason that cheap parts are usually used resulting in a recurring problem. Warpspeed warrants their parts for at least 4 years with aluminized steel and a LOT longer for the ss parts. I've had my warpspeed (wsp) y-pipe for about 2.5years and I am in Kansas where it snows and salt is used and it's still good as gold.

Thanks for the tips. I looked at the Warpspeed Performance (http://www.warpspeedperformance.com) website. They have a complete 2-1/2" system, "Y" pipe, cat and all, for $590 in aluminized steel.

Wisconsin, where I live, is really bad with the salt on the road. Even aluminized steel, which isn't protected at the weld seams corrodes quickly around here.

I gotta get back to some car friendly place like Arizona or Oregon because I hate seeing cars rust away.

yeah i feel you on that...however, they do have t-304 tig ss that would be more resistant PLUS you could always get them rust-proofed to extra longevity. give em a call and let them know your situation and they will usually give pretty good advice. Plus their parts have very good resale value on the org so if later on you decide to sell your car, you can always sell them separately.
