what parts do i need to modify or add to my engine when adding a turbo? I have a b18c that has a compression ration of 9:1. I have been told 2 things with a turbo i can run it at up to 10:1 and ive been told i need to lower it as low as 7:1 i am now confused. I am new to cars but i know the basics. I have added a bunch of things to my car but am going to stop because i was told they are pretty much useless when adding a turbo, like headers, downpipe, intake etc. Please dont use initials for names spell it out cuz im trying to learn.

alright, so you want to put in a turbo, eh? well from the things I know of turbocharging any motor. The lower the compression ratio (the better for tubrbo) the higher you can push the boost.. plus if you are planning to turbocharge you may want to upgrade the lower end of your engine, crankshaft, pistons, rods, and probably upgrade your cams. especially if you have Vtec, turbo's generally don't handle Vtec cams well (from what I've heard). I know you will also need a turbo intake manifold, larger fuel injectors, and fuel pressure regulator, turbo timer, turbo exhaust manifold, and a bunch of other little add on's to get the best performance out of your turbo motor.. You may also want to get your engine resleeved to handle the higher cylinder pressures from the turbo. otherwise your cylinder walls will walk (warp). Well that's what I know , but anyone feel free to add to what I possibly/probably missed.

thanks alot man, i need any info i can get. Right now i have a tokiriko cold air intake, skunk2 cam gears, clutchmaster stage 3 clutch, greddy intake manifold, spitfire ignition wires and spark plugs, dc headers and spoon exaust that actually give me engine power on a b18c vtech. I am wondering if i would need to take most of this crap off and put stuff made for a turbo on. Also if any one has anything to add please do

well your cold air intake will not fit the turbo, that will either have to be cut, or fabricate a new one.. and for the best power from a turbo, I would highly suggest turbo cams.. which involves taking the top of your engine apart.. don't have to take it out of the car, but it's easier if you can. and replace your stock cams.. I believe there was an issue of honda tuning where they reviewed a bunch of cams, for N/A and turbo applications, can't remember which it was, but there's probably somone on here that remembers.. there are different types of cams, aggressive, mild, and middle plane, but there are many different varieties of each... turbos I beleive mostly like to be between agressive and middle plane cams, with a long exhaust lobe. check out online, somoen should know about turbo cams on here. but go with what you want. oh and just so you know Vtec does'nt really mean jack.. It's just a different cam ride, and can fuck with a turbo really bad.

there was also a issue of honda tuning where they went over how to replace your cams... which you can probably order a print direct from them if you call their offices..
