Anyone know about any DeLoreans for sale, cheep?

I want one......

Jay!

I wanted one for a long time, too. I'm afraid the "cheap" doesn't really describe the going market rate. Depreciation on this car has been greatly offset by its rarity due to low production numbers.

I used car showroom near my house has one inside, but I've never looked to see if it was for sale. Shall I check?

Only if it's in the $1000 range :D:D:D

Jay!

Good luck with that. I don't remeber ever seeing one for sale for less than $15K.

Maybe for a grand you could buy one door or something...

My friend who has bought and restored 3 and is on his 4 (I think) gets them cheaper than that, think around $10,000.

Ya getting one for a $1,000 would be do good a deal:alien:

Bet it wouldn't come with a flux capcitor either:p

You can find them for 8000 pretty easy

Heep

That'd be awesome...it would be much more exotic and exclusive, would probably impress the ladies more as well :D

I had a friend looking for one, and for a fully restored, it would cost around $30,000.

I can understand why though. I have only seen one DeLorean on the road. I have even seen one McLaren F1 on the road and that is here in the states. That tells you how rare a Delorean is.

Good luck.

It's funny how lots of people want one now but production was stopped because nobody wanted any back then... especially since it was totally underpowered

can you say.... 0-100mph in 40.0s

ouch

Whats accident damage like to repair on one though, i doubt theres a panel beater around here that can repair stainless steel like that without covering it in paint to hid their sins

gang$tarr
11-07-2001, 02:36 PM
that would be such a hassle

you might be able to find one in a junkyard... but i REALLY doubt it, heh :D

then you could use the panel off a wrecked one.... there might be a company that makes them
that would be a pretty good business oppurtunity, cause then everyone would have to go to you

Parts are REALLY easy to get and cheap. The Delorean Motor Company still exists in Texas, and they refurbish old Deloreans, add factory options, offer a 195 hp upgrade, lower stiffer suspension that was originally planned to be used, but couldn't be because of the US's stupid laws at the time. You can also get a 170 MPH as opposed to the 80 MPH speedo that was also required at the time. Stereo upgrades are available. On www.delorean.com, you can configure your own, picking options, interior color, if you want the hp upgrade, if you want the original engine rebuilt, or a new crate motor put in, etc. Check it out :D

In last week's AutoTrader someone was selling two DeLoreans for $10K. One running, the other a 'parts car.' Hehe. BTW, the DeLorean showed back up at the dealer I mentioned above after being gone for a few months... Now I really want to go take a look. :D

Delorean Motor Company in Texas refurbishes and sells "new" Deloreans. In fact, on www.delorean.com, you can configure your new Delorean just like with other new cars. They also offer upgrades that make the car they way it was originally planned to be (it couldn't be made this way because of strict 80's bumper requirements, emissions, etc). They offer a power upgrade boosting power to 195, and a slightly lower suspension, as was originally planned. Other options are available, like a roof rack (actually over the rear window, not the roof), rare factory "Delorean" side stripes, polished Delorean wheels, etc. You can also deliver your Delorean to them if you already own one (hint hint Yogs :D), and they will do any restoration that your cars needs. They have HUGE warehouses full of new/refurbished parts, so don't even let your insurance company charge a premium "because parts are hard to get."

I can't believe someone has never seen a Delorean!! I usually see one every couple of months, sometimes even more frequently than that.

I would love to own one, Back to the Future was one of my favorite movies as a little kid, I even got to "drive" one of the cars used in the filming at the 1990 NY Auto Show (it had complete time circuits and flux capacitor).

There is a Delorean at a junk yard near by...

heres its story according to the owner

he bought it for 10000 and it was scractched and dented... he spent another 20 000 to restore it to perfect condition

After he was done he took it out for a drive and he was on the highway and he was looking at his wife next to him and he didnt notice an 18 wheeler infront of him... he smashed into the back of it... but to boot he stopped so abruptly that a car behind him trying to get a look @ his new car slide into the back of him...

so the back and front of his 30000 dollar delorean were crunched. He took it to an apraiser and the guy said that the chassis was bent beyond belief... total for repairs 150 000

and that is how it got there today

I have actually been watching this auction. The cars has many things against it.
-Every panel needs repair ($600 X 6 panels = $3600 or more). See
http://www.revivus.com/dmc12/panels/ for close-ups.

-The car hasn't been registered in many years, and has Virginia plates (so back taxes, fees and hassles galore).

-The interior is phucked & missing panels.

This is why the auction is currently at $350 (and not like $9,000).

I still might buy it just to use the frame.

The e-Bay ad states that it is not the original engine. It was swapped at one time for a non-PRV Volvo. The engine wasn't redone, just swapped. That was lame... at least tune or rebuilt the swap, right?

This guy sounds like a real moron to me... just about every DMC on e-Bay has sold for over $9,000. His car is going dirt-cheap because that is all its worth... "dirt".

I wouldn't trust buying used bricks from this guy.

I wouldn't get that car - for even parts. There's no telling how piss poor condition everything is in (beyond what he wrote up)

I think that unique cars are way cool. I have a '63 Rambler American. I havn't seen another like it on the road down here. And I have seen only 1 other 99 dark red Tracer w/ the spoiler like mine. Lol! Now more to the subject, I have wanted a DeLorean since I started looking into them. They are way cool and hey when I graduate perhaps I can afford one.
Its buy a new car or get something bad-ass like a DeLorean.

If you enjoy caring for cars then its a good idea. If you're one of those people that only drives your cars and knows nothing about engines and electrical, then get the new car. I learned so much from my DMC & I'm glad I bought it.

You bought your GTO that way? Its a good resource for rare cars (better than eBay because you see the car before handing over $$$). However, DeLoreans are best found at:
