Hi all, I own a 1986 Toyota Corolla SR5 liftback. It has the SOHC 1.6L N/A carbed 4cylinder 4A-C. I understand the GTS had a 1.8 DOHC NA motor, wiht the intake and exhaust on different sides, and not the same like mine. I wanted to get a GTS, but after looking real damn hard, this was the best I found, it has 118,428 miles on it, 5spd manual. The rims are the ugliest things I've ever seen. I was wondering. I think they're 14'' rims, If I found the older supra rims, like in a junkyard or something, would they fit my car (4lug)? and would they fit the tires I have now, or do I need new ones? Also, as of yesterday, I was driving a freind home, his isuzu truck died in front my house, and he had to be back early to get ready for a date, so I kinda was doing a lil speeding to get him home fast (85 in 65). He lives down a dirt/rock road in the country (hickville, cows to the left, cows to the right). It has some twists before you get to his house, I did have to slow down a lil to make one of the turns, but I downshifted from 5 to 4 and let the clutch out kinda fast (doin like 45 or so, to turn and the car kinda did a powerslide, and put us in a ditch. :lol2: Although, it took his dads tuck to pull us out, on the way into the turn I turned pretty hard to the left and as the car started to slide I jerked hard right and kinda lost it, did I do a drift, and just not make it, or did the car just lose control and slide? Now, onto my question, if I found the corolla GTS motor, 1.8 N/A dohc efi, would it bolt to the tranny that I have now, or would I need the tranny and rear end from a gts along with it's wiring harness? Honestly I love my car, although, when I floor it to rev it up, it pauses for a second, then revs up. Although my redline reads 6000 to 8000, I've made it to 7500 then a limiter kicked in. Also, I'm planning to ditch the catalytic converter, and have a 2.5'' mandrel bent exhaust pipe put on from where the cat. converter is now back to a custom muffler. If I have the guy I know weld it on, will I still need a custom mount, or will it be fine hanging on the pipe? Thanks for your advice in advance.
