Progress: Celica GT-Four

Well, I just finished spraying the shell and there is quite a load of dust on it :( Not only that, no. Somehow I got too much paint onto the right fender and now there is a huge drip. I think it should be quite easy to fix though, because its only over a small area. So After about 4 days or so I might just sand it down and respray that little bit. As said, there is quite a bit of dust (I wonder why), and some bubbles, but all in all not too bad, considering I sprayed Pure White over White primer, and I could not see what I'm doing. On first looks, I'd say the rx7 is a lot better, but I'm gonna make some pictures of it in a few minutes so you can see what I mean. Also I was afraid of runnning out of paint and only did 3 coats of paint and not 4. I really gotta find out how much a spray-can can take... :(

Good news is that I bought some glue, so now I'll be able to finish the rx7 :D

Ok, here are he pics. I know I should strip the car and redo it. I know there is a lot of bubbles and dust. I know this is my second car. And I also know that I learn from my mistakes and learn to deal with things not being perfect! Hey, next time I will know more! Also I can work with the problems and see where that gets me...

Comments appreciated, especially on how to fix the panel lines (stupid me did the panel lines on the primer and it had a spazz with the paint, lol. Im guessing just thinly brushing some white over it and then redoing it. no biggie. The runs Im just gonna sand out or something. maybe not. depends on how I feel and how proud I am of my fcuk ups, lol.

haha, im working on the same car as well..except haven't touched in a few days...too much other stuff..i just painted the shell metallic blue..but i have these stupid white panel lines cuz i sprayed too much on the first coat..or so ppl say..anyways..gl!..its my first model..and its frick'n hard...i bought it cuz its rare

Hey man, looks really good, but if I can make a small suggestion for the future builds, I always attach all the body panels together prior to painting. It eliminates having different amount of paint/gloss on each panel.

I attach everything, spoiler, front and rear fascia, sideskirts, rear view mirrors, its and paint the entire unit together.

I find its better than way, but you can do what you like with yours, looks great so far

Looks good. There are a few spots and bumps you can see in the paint, but nothing a little bit of sanding and polishing can't get rid of.
And as slk320 said, its a really good idea to put the whole body together, then paint. I just find it easier. You don't have to deal with all these littler parts and stuff. All just one big body.

Yeh. Well someone else told me to do them seperately. DAMN YOU! I'm actually gonna sand down the entire car and spray it again (just the wet coat). There are really too many areas that I stuffed up and are just not acceptable (plus I really have to learn how to spray the damn underside of the bumpers. its frustrating). It's all just a bit hectic because my brother is here and I havent seen him in a long time and we kind do everything together so I don't get a lot of time to build.

That's what I do all the time. Sometimes, the body might need to be twisted or stretched for it to be fixed onto the chassis, but that's the most of your troubles. Sebastian, the celica looks good. What motor/drivetrain configuration is this car, I might pick one up in a few months.

the celica gt-four is a four cylinder turbo engine on an all wheel drive platform. It uses the 3S-GTE engine, which where also featured in the early GT-Four models (ST165 and ST185). Also this engine (with slight modifications) can be found in the MR2 SW20. I am planning on buying a ST165 GT-Four next year, so yeah :D
The ST205 (like the one above) has 195kw I think, definately the most powerful of the gt-four range. Also some wastegate problem has been fixed, which reduces the risk of it cracking. Definately one of the best toyotas ever made!

Hmm. Might see about finding one of those for the corolla. Too bad I don't have the 5speed I used to have, or I'd have the torquest, fastes N/A corolla here, I'd just need fix up the short block 350 in the shed.

The later generation 3SGTE rocks (245hp), these things haul ass, its the same engine thats on my REV IV MR2 GT and they make good power even with just exhaust and intake mods, last time i had it on the dyno i was pulling 192 kw @ the wheels and thats just with exhaust and a panel filter, these are by far probably one of the best 2litre engines around, they were running these on JGTC Supras not that long ago.
