I was reading an old thread and a tech (Glenn Peters) was saying that he has seen many oil pressure problems with the 1.8t motors.
How many of you on the forum also had problems with is?
The year/miles of the car would help us all
Please share your experience!
Also what other problems even small one’s have you’re come across with your A4
I’m currently look looking at a 2000 1.8t 5speed 60k non-quattro
Please share any info as I’m in the market for a reliable good looking daily driver
I also understand this is an Audi A4 board so please try not to be partial when replying, all cars have there problems.
What do /don’t like about your 98+ A4
Thanks Dan

O.K. Look being an Audi tech I wouldn,t buy a 1.8T!!!! My pick would be a 2.8 quattro, with good snows on all 4 wheels in winter (if you get snow) !!!!! I do not think the 1.8T is all that impressive, people will say neither is the 2.8!!!!!! Your all right!!!!!! As for the oil pressure issue it can be avoided!!!!!!!! Remember if you look for people who have problems, doesn't matter what they drive you'll find tons. All cars are junk they just have different problems. That is why I chose this profession (stupid, stupid, stupid).

I disagree the 1.8T is a great motor! I know people with both the A4 1.8T and VW GTI 1.8T and they have no problems. Glenn Peters I am starting to seriously doubt that you are who you say you are. I have never heard of the 1.8T motor having oil pressure issues and like I said I have friends who are 1.8T motor owners and mechanics. Oil pressure is something you need to watch with all turbo cars. However I have never heard of it being an issue whith the 1.8T motor. Its been said before and I will say it again the 1.8T motor is one of the best tuning motor you can get in the world. That New car tuning TV show (cant think of name) even did a project with A4 and they said how good of a motor the 1.8T was. They showed how the easy the motor could handle high hp numbers when they swaped in a bigger turbo. Did anyone see this too? The show is on regular cable. I want to say its like speed something.

RACERD12 you can doubt all you want,it's ok. If you read it was my opion that I posted. It also stated that the oil pressure issue can be avoided!!!! Sorry if you cant handle the facts,we do quite a bit of them, oil screens get plugged up and they starve for oil !!!!!!! As for hop ups I keep vehicles mostly stock, my choice for go fast is motorcycles!!!!!!
