'87 CRX carb
cold idle....good.
recently: on occasion warm idle would be 2500-3000rpm. idle would return to normal after brief accel under power.
current: with no adjustments, now warm idle is ZEROrpm??? the car will no longer idle warm, always dies.
again, no change to carb settings....???
any ideas?

I have a similar problem ( same car). After the high idle the engine quits the only way to keep it running is to keep the throtle full open. We think there is something wrong with the warm idle circuit. we thought it might be clogged with old fuel cause the car was sitting a while but thats not panning out, we checked for vacume leaks and found none we checked the warm idle cut off switch and its good, the float resevoir in the carb is full so we know the carb is getting fuel , why its not running thru the warm idle circuit we dont know, any suggestion or links to carb diagrams Greatly Aprreciated.

I have sold the car, so I'm not able to offer the solution, as it has yet to be found. However, after much searching, I understand that the coolant has an important role in the low idle. There is a manifold of some nature that the coolant runs through. I understand that if there is an air pocket in this the idle can be erratic. Also, if the car doesn't really ever warm up, which was my problem, I believe, then idle problems will also occur. I think my thermostat was stuck open. Again, sorry to not have a solution, but it's one more thing to consider. (I've upgraded to a '92 hatchback, no vacuum lines!!!) Good luck.

I did sell the car to a friend, and if he sorts out the problem I will let you know.
