Anyone else hear the rumors that he passed away a few days ago? I sure hope it isn't true. :(

Last I heard he was comatose from an allergic reaction to some medication given to him at a hospital, whilst he was being treated for a broken neck from a race he had in a Cavalier dragster. I hope it's not true either. I'll see if I can find any info.

But oh what a life he did LIVE. I Am sad to see that he is gone. Yet after a year in a coma it may have been best. He will always have a page or two in the book of automotive history. :2cents:

The man was a tuning legend and an engineering genius. He could build NA LT5 Corvettes that made a reliable, streetable 500hp while guys like Callaway needed turbos and superchargers to do the same.

Once I actually got to meet him in Decatur, Indiana. He was a really soft-spoken guy, just the sort you'd meet at any race track on a summer saturday night. You could tell he loved cars and loved his work, and the esteem never got to him. He always remained that nice guy from Decatur who loved cars.

It's always a shame when motorsports loses a great like him. Godspeed, Mr. Lingenfelter. You were a great car guy, and more importantly, a genuinely good person.

His Lingenfelter 427 TT vette was sooo heavily underrated hp wise it wasn't even funny. The car trapped at 158 mph, higher then almost any single turbo Supra, and w/o race gas. i don't know if any of his technicians know about cars as well as he did. I hope so, cause most of the other Corvette tuners out there suck big time.

He will be sorely missed!

As the owner John's 1994 car, I can tell you there is nothing like it!
