Long tube headers

Hi. New here. I just bought an '04 Silverado w/ the 5.3. I have already installed an x pipe behind the cats and dual 2 1/2" pipes that dump just over the axle w/ stainless dynomax ultraflow SS mufflers. I also put a k&n filter in the stock air box and removed the silencer. My question is...Does anybody know offhand if Camaro LS1 headers will clear the floor pans and miscellaneous brackets, steering columns, etc. The reason i am asking is I have to have long tubes (personal preference), but the ones specifically designed for the silverados are anywhere from 700-1000 bucks...no thanks! I know that I will have to block off the air and egr passages on the camaro headers...no biggie. I also know that I will have to redo the pipes and cats...again not a concern of mine. I am just curious if they are structurally the right shape. Thanks in advance!

If you're going to run through the cat and mufflers all the time, don't waste your money on the long tubes, the shorties will work just as well on the street. I recently bought some stainless steel Edelbrocks with the new Ti-tec (powdered titanium finish ) for about 300 bucks.

Running through mufflers you can expect 10-15 additional road horsepower (remember, your truck probably doesn't produce more than 150 hp at the rear wheels).

Biggest headache for most people is keeping the header gaskets from blowing out at the head and/or the collector. You need to tighten them regularly until they take a "set", or find a good, experienced installer who will perform this follow-up work as part of his service.

Biggest advantage of headers with the new ceramic coatings is greatly reduced underhood heat. This greatly lengthens the life of wires, hoses, belts, etc.
