this is the start of my first REAL model, I would appreciate all the advice i can get and i want alot of input. positive or negative. I need to learn.
What rims should i use??? 3 spokes or 18in te37? i want to make the te37's with a really deep lip and im thinkin pegasues sleeves!!!!!
PLANS
Car Color : Signal Orange (any suggestions for paint brand/name)
interior : grey and black racing seats
exterior modifications : shaved squirters, shaved antenna, sleepy eye conversion, maybe sport roof
Suspension : lowered alot camber in the front
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/125444DCP_3247.JPG
this is with the 3 spokes
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/125444DCP_3253.JPG
this is the te37's
So far it is primered, the window trim is painted, sleepy eye conversion, shaved misc. stuff, By the way, any pointers on gettin acrylic paint smudges off of the windows? i slipped!
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY CARBON FIBER DECAL I CAN BUY? MAYBE ENOUGHT FOR 3 HOODS OR MAYBE A WHOLE SHEET? it would help if you are in the U.S. (SAS is out)
Ill get some updated pics ASAP
DONT FORGET TO TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF THE RIMS AND GIVE ME MORE IDEAS FOR STUFF!

I personally like the te37's but thats just me. For the Carbon Fiber decal check www.scaleautostyle.com I think that the orange would look pretty cool. And for the window, i dont really know. Try to do a search or look in the How to depository. I don't know if we have anything that will help you but try anyway. Hopefully we do or somebody knows how to fix that. Anyways good luck on your model. :)

How much is a lot of camber?
Sounds like its going to be a good build. The orange should look good on the car. Keep us posted.

Paint: Boyds florida orange pearl! Goo-gone (sold in US) removes every type/kind of paint! Why don't you take some closer/zoomed in pics of the car so I can see what it looks like. btw, nice slepy eyes.

MUCH BETTER! I think the car looks real good right now. Where you planning to paint the rims silver, black, or something like that?

i cant decide what color to paint them...... maybe gold w/ a chrome lip.....or not i dont know yet tho. what do you think?
hondaaccordboy21
12-25-2003, 10:55 PM
That would look pretty cool. Maybe also gold with black lip. But its your model, and its looking pretty good. :)

Here's what I'd do: Purchase Krylon gloss black spray paint, Krylon chrome spray paint, look at the cans upc code it'll be printed, sometimes people change the caps. Lay down the gloss black on all 4 rims, 1hr later lay down the chrome spray on all the rims. let them sit for about a day. Using black brush (flat or gloss) carefully paint just the spokes black, to help with this I'd suggest using M3 blue painters masking tape. Then youhave a realistic chrome lip, and the cool drifty black centers!

good idea but i dunno about the chrome i moght do aluminum instead..not that much of a difference but aluminum is handier for me. by the way....as we speak, im makin custom exhaust and im pretty much done. i cant choose whether or not to do the blue tip. ill be sure and post a comparison of the exhaust and if anyone is interested in me making them send me your stock exhaust(muffler and tip) and a few bucks and ill be more than happy to custom make a full aluminum exhaust to your needs. you should trim off that front license plate like mine..
http://loader.schwippy.com/Picture 39small.jpg
Another thing to consider with rims, on a 180sx or rwd, awd car, you should use a rim that simulates a slightly lower offset or really low offset with a lip. In real life, only people that suck would put some 17' Tuner "mainly honda" 40+ offset rims on a 180sx.
So if you go with the TE37s, You should make a lip on them.

i was planning on puttin a lip on them. i dunno what to use. ive considered buying the peguseus sleeves or using strip styrene to make the lip. ive read tutorials on both. i think the sleeves would look alot cleaner. i have some watanabes, nismo 5 spokes that came with my drift machine r32. hmmmm

use the strips and mold em in. The front is a lil trickier, but with imagination, you should figure it out.

i just finished my first rim with a lip on it. i did it on the wheels my 180sx came with. i think it looks alright. it needs some puttying i think. i havet brought myself to cutting off the back of the rim yet. the lip i think is a little bit too big. it look sweeet tho

How about making the exhaust a lil more believeable? Suggestion. Make a regular canister muffler, and using some liquid nail, or silicone or something like that fill in the back of the muffler, and stick the pipe in, and put a lil with your finger around it. To better understand view everypage of the thread, "Fujimi Drift Machine"
dorikingts
12-26-2003, 09:53 PM
to make that exhaust i used 5 different sizes of aluminum pipe and fit them into each other and thensanded them all down smooth
86_SR5
12-26-2003, 10:04 PM
shoulda just gobbed some glue in the back of the pipe, then stuck your exhaust piping into it and paint when dry, and it'd look more realistic.

heh, find it. I've lost so many model parts, like I'd sit something down right in front of me to do something else, and 1 minute later, it's gone!

i tore it apart. it looks 100 percent more real now. i used some strip styrene and well, i dont feel like explaning it. F*** it! it looks better now. ill post pics as soon as my mom gets back wich shouldnt be long
