I have a 2000 Suburban with eletrical windows. The front windows both driver and passenger works fine. The passenger and driver's side rear windows doesn't work. How can I correct the problem and what is the problem(s) with the windows. Is there a recall on this problem

go to Chilton's web site and find the schematic for your truck. It could be a switch, harness, motor.

Somone else (sorry, i forget who) posted this site. I found it pretty useful.

I also have a 2000 Suburban with the exact same problem. The front windows work fine but the back windows don't. Did you get this resolved yet? I haven't been able to find any information on this yet. Thanks

So you suggest replacing BOTH motors in the rear windows? Isn't it odd that we both have the same exact problem that both the rear windows don't work and not just one or the other? Is there something in common to both windows?

Okay one more GM Tech on this tread!! Experience says "regular use on pwoer window motors will keep them healthy." Let's explain, the window motor uses brushes that ride on a surface of the armature called the commutator. The commutator is copper. Copper corrodes. A light film between the commutator and the brushes will keep the motor from working. These guys know of the bulletin put out by GM and so do I. Here is another idea to get the motors working again without taking anything apart or buying anything. Startup the vehicle, make sure the window lockout is off, get in the back seat, and with the door open push down the window switch. Next, shut the door firmly while holding the switch down. You may have to do this 2 or 3 times. Most of the times that I have done this the windows start to work. You may need to go as far as to remove the door panel (lifts off on this one) one tap on the motor area when holding the switch in the down position. If you get the windows working again, use them at least twice a week. Shutting the door firmly makes the internal parts of the motor vibrate and in turn holding the switch at the same time can cause a temp connection that will start the motor moving. I have used this to diagnose several types of cars.

How do you get the rear door panel off of a 2001 Suburban?

Thank you very much! I had to remove the back panels and tap on the motor and they started working again. They have both since stopped working so I purchased new motors. Thanks for your help!

If the 2001 is the same as a 2000, then there are 3 screws. One at the bottom right hand of the panel, one near the door handle and one up by the lock. You may need to check these locations for accuracy. If you remove these 3 screws, and the lock cover plate, then you can lift up on the panel and remove it. It's a lift-off style panel. very easy to do.

Oops, sorry, not lock cover plate but the window switch cover plate needs to be removed. Then easily remove the window switch and push it through after you lift off the panel.
