1985, engine won't ignite

Just replaced the Cap and wires. Put electrical lube on the boots and on the cap connections. New spark plugs (Some 2 dollar a piece NGK).
The starter just turns and turns and turns. And the engine won't ignite. I have a spark going from the coil. So that seems to work. Haven't checked the distributor yet. But I have a feeling it don't work the way it did when it was brand new.
I took my starter in originally, they said it had a bad drive. Now I'm starter illiterate. So I don't know what the drive is for. Or for that matter, how a drive could go bad.
Now my stoner friend who was helping me put the new wires and cap on. Forgot the pattern for the wires.
Now he put them on the way he "thinks" they go.
Does anyone have the firing pattern for the cap and all 8 spark plugs?
Or perhaps some other helpful information?
Thanks!

If it's a CA20E I can help you out just let me know. Worst case, the distributor cap should have a fring order on it.

So the fuel pump is that noise? When I turn my key I hear a humm toward the back of the car and lasts like 5 seconds. Would you recommend buying a new one?

Sounds like a bad Distributor, the after market rebuild are bad to go bad, the sensor inside is the problem in most cases. Had one do the same thing, got 5 before I got a good one that would last.
Good luck!
