I had a holley on my freshly rebuilt 350 in my truck. Put an Edelbrock on, it was like night and day. Way better thottle response, choke worked way better, and got better gas mileage. Both 600 CFM. Now that Edelbrock has the Thunder series, it smokes anything Holley makes except the Dominator. But the Performer series is still better than most Holleys. Excellent deal for the price, and the Edelbrock looks way better sitting on top of your engine.

I have to agree with the others. Stay away from Holleys for the street. I have had lots of Holleys and they just are not a sophisticated design. The enrichment circuit (power valve) is like an all or nothing switch so the carb will often run too rich, unless you lean out the main jets, at which time they can have a lean stumble when the power valve is closed.
Also every new Holley I have ever seen is jetted way too rich from the factory for all applications except for race cars, so educated tuning is always required.
The only possible exception is engines with extremely radical camshafts can work better with Holleys than others, But those kinds of cars are miserable to drive on the street anyways.

Edelbrock is a much better carb, its much easier to tune! A holley will always need futsing with but the edelbrock will keep on humming.
