Will keep you updated in this thread.

an idea of the huge size difference between 1:24 and 1:12. you could drive the 1:24 scale through the doors of the 1:12 :)

I was looking at one of these kits recently online and wondered what it was like...mainly because it was very expensive (over $100 if I remember rightly) It looks pretty nice. I'll be interested to see how it builds up.

details for painting are pretty slim so I will ore than likely go off the tamyia colouring for the interior and the exterior will be in my favorite colour for a skyline . . . . SILVER :)
might just have to go with automotive paints on this one to get just the right shade of silver

I was going to suggest if your doing rattle can, buy dupli-color. Warning: If you've never used it, you'll be very satisfied. It sprays in a V formation like this
.....<<<<<paint flow

I find it works 15x's better than tamiya usually 2bux cheaper, and lasts longer. I believe that they have nissan's silver.

OMG THAT IS HOT HOT HOT! Finally another one daring enough to build the 1/12! I wonder if Tamiya or anyone else would ever make a 1/12 R34 V-SpecII (including engine)... I would imagine that everyone would buy it!

Mike. $75.65 at my LHS they have 2. I'd buy one, but there's know way in hell I'm spending 75bux on 1 model. Now, if it had 3cans of spray, all the brush paints, primers, styrene, brushes, glues, maskings and such, I'd might consider it. Since that's about what I spend on 2 models all together.

Speaking of big 1:12 models, anyone have a Monogram 1/12 F40? I forgot I had one. Dug it up today, looked at the contents. I have *no idea* why I even bought this thing; it barely resembles an F40!! The details are so bad (front and rear grills are FILLED IN -- molded details!). Wheels don't steer, tires look out of proportion, list goes on and on. To top it all off, the instructions don't even have paint instructions on them. Even the 1/24 Tamiya model is much more detailed and accurate than this monster! If one day I ever decide to build it... Bah, I'll just let it sit.

got it from 1 of the model shops in New Zealand, works out at just under $300 NZD which I think would work out at about $180 US. not cheap but well worth it if you ask me

tazdev,
good luck buddy, it is a good model kit, but beware of certain things to look out for
-fitment with the body and chassis
-watch out for the screws, one sure fit and don't screw them back out
-sterring column and sterring wheel needs to be tight in order for wheels to turn
PM me if you need help, I would love to see another 1/12 GTR made, nice posts so far, sorta like mine =D haha. Definalty go with the silver on this one, it'll look nice. Detailing will be super awesom with this car, just don't forget the reference picture. I got plenty, PM me for it. Also I got my link down there so you can see my 1/12 as well.
Crazy me, I think I might get another one and do that one in black... err well maybe not, its too big no room in the house :grinno:
Cheers, It'll be a great build... don't give up on it!

they would go nicely on the car but I feel that Fujimi did such a good job reproducing the standard rims in 1:12 scale why ruin that by trying to modify them to look like the momo gt2s.

looking very good so far, reminds me of half a year ago when I was putting mine together. keep up the good work, I think after seeing yours in motion, I think im going to start scratch buildling the Brake lines and all that stuff. BTW how did u make the fluid containers clear looking, that is quite impressive. Can you please share your sceret please?
On the body, I donno if it is the same as mine, but its ABS plastic, and the mold lines are really hard to take off, use much sand paper to take it off and auto primer the baby with gray primer, then the color will come out better than using white primer. for any color bleeds and all that stuff once the paint cures.
Fujimi made a good model car, it is basically the R32 from Tamiya but blown up into a bigger porportion. but fitment sucks :cwm27:
keep on going, it looks good!

sorry for the slow progress but I decided to take a little break for awhile and get away from it all. Back now and progressing nicely.
Interior is fully painted and awaits flocking for the carpet and parcel try. Dash has bee completed and is waiting for the crapet to be done before assembly. The inner door skins have been painted similar to the tamyia GTR instructions excpet the main grey colour has had a few drops of flat black added to give it a darker look that that of the seats.
have also test fitted the doors which look like they will fit nicely and need no modifications.

Am now in the process of adding the ABS lines along the firewall (just waiting to snap some more detailed pics of the full scale car). the holders are being made from styrene rods and the 'wire' is 0.04" piano wire. its a nightmare to bend right so may try using styrene rod but don't know if it will bend without breaking.

not hard to use at all, in fact it is the easiest thing I have done so far on this kit. Just masked up what it didnt want carpeted (vents and speakers on parcel try etc) and brushed on an even coat of clear water based pasted and sprinkled on the flocking. THen is a simple matter of turning it over and tapping the bottom to shed the excess. Any spots missed can then be lightly glued and then more flocking added.
piss easy really.
Thanks for the comments guys it makes all the effort masking and painting worth while
