I posted this in another thread about swapping in a K series engine into a 4G but decided to create it's own thread about it. I'm curious as to wut people will say about it...
You can swap in any engine from any car into any other car that you want...as long as you have the time and the money.
You need 3 important things to make ANY swap work:
1.)wiring harness adapter
2.)shift linkage
3.)Engine Mounts
The only reason that a K-series swap is difficult to do is because none of the 3 things listed above are "widely available, mass produced, consumer" products.
Think about it. Back in 92 or something, people weren't swapping B-series engines into the 88-91 civics...they thought it was "impossible"......why? Because none of those three things were available yet. When people DID actually start to do that stuff, those three things had to be custom made or fabricated. Then when more and more people wanted to do that swap...companies began making the 3 products that u need to get that swap done....they waited until there was a demand for those products before they began making them. Give it 1 or 2 yrs. After that, those three things listed above WILL be available widely for K-series engines into a civic/crx. Then people all over will start swapping that engine in. But, the Kseries engine DOES fit into our chassis.
Anyone get wut I am saying?
You can get any engine to run any car if you wanted too..........Does anyone ever watch "Junkyard Wars"?.......LOL
Remember......we drive "HONDAS!!!" Which means we can put any engine in our cars.

Even if those three things come out in mass production why waste your money?
You can get a b16 engine for half the price of k series engine.... and yes there alsmot comaprable performance wise.

i stated that a K swap into an EF would cost around 10,000 because the longblock itself is around $5-6,000.
Plus an EF mount kit would be atleast $500. then you got ECU, wiring, custom linkages (which people are so afraid to fabricate stuff, so buy some $500 linkages), custom exhaust, custom everything.
since the "import scene" has exploded, too many rich kids are trying to do so much shit just to be unique.
How many 69 camaros do you see that have a 2003 fuel injected LS1 or something in them? not many. why? because they realize that the cost isnt worth the performance.

I'm guessing you didn't know jack shit about Civics in 92. You think all this stuff is new to the last couple of years?!
Essentially you can put most any motor in most any car.. You just need to make mounts, and do all the wiring. The reason people don't always do it is because its not cost effective for what you're going to get from it. For the price of a K series swap in a 4th gen, you could have a 300+hp B16A. It just doesn't make any sense.
People have done wild swaps for bragging rights, and just to see if they could do it, etc.
I believe Kunundrum was posting the other day about a 4g with a mitsubishi motor in it.. I've seen online 5th gens with S2000 swaps, 4g with an Accord V6 motor... You get the point. It CAN be done, but it just doesn't make any sense.

There's a CRX that is for sale right now near me with a 4G63T in it, along with Galant VR-4 AWD. The guy spent about $9500 doing it just to see if it could be done, besides the cost of the car, and runs 12's in a daily driver. You're right, anything can be done, but honestly, is it worth the cash? The answer is no to most of us. If I had $10,00 to dump right away on a car, it wouldn't be to do a crazy swap, I'd just do what is known and proven to be fast, as well as reliable. I personally don't want the hassle of a K-series, I'll take boost on a B-series motor any day!
