Speedometer doesn't work....wtf?

I have a 94 Sentra XE. The speedometer worked fine till about a thousand miles ago. It worked oen day and when i started it and started to drive i look down and i`m doing 0MPH. Does anyone know what the prob is or if i need a speedo cable or what. Plz reply!
