AE86 SR5 / 4A-C Carb Problems

Hey guys, we received a 1985 Corolla SR5 as a gift from someone (pretty cool gift!) and I decided to rebuild the carb. It works, sort of...
Here's what it does.
It runs like complete shit when it's cold...extremely rough, struggles to keep from stalling, and puts out clouds of white smoke.
Once it warms up, it runs quite well, except it almost feels like the throttle is sticky (the revs will drop slowly after accelerator is released, idle sometimes stays at around 1600 RPM).
Is there any site that has stuff on carbs, or can anyone help me?
Thanks!

Sounds like it needs to be completely rejetted. Easier to find a cheap running 4AGE and drop it in usually :)

Yeah, I have the same problems, to keep it from dieing, I flip the switch to the heater, and kik the heater on the first position that brings the revs to 1500, but when the AC/heater is off it drops to around 1000. BTW, lets say I wanted to do the 4age, and do the swap, could it just be dropped in, or would I need other things? If so, what would I need?

Pretty sure a 4AGE can be dropped straight onto 4AC mounts. Very cheap and easy conversion anyway :) Very much worth it for the benefits of both HP, reliability and EFI.

Swapping to the 4AGE would be pretty cool...but...from the pictures I see of eBay 4AGE engines, the intake manifold is facing the wrong way. I assume this is a problem...?
Assuming I didn't do the 4AGE swap, does anyone have any experience with Weber carbuerators? There's one on eBay going for $270 with installation adapters.
