Well, I recently made my journey from Tallahassee, FL to Chicago and will be making the return trip next week. Between my CDs and flipping through the crappy local radio stations from city to city, I keep my mind occupied.
My trip is solo (which is better IMO) but I don't think planned in-car events would go over well. You just gotta be able to stand and possibly enjoy the company of your carmate for what 30 hours?

The last time I made a drive like that I was in college. We drank all the way.I wouldn't recommend doing that though. Stop a lot and see the sites on the way. This also helps with the fatigue of riding and driving. Get a game counsel that can plug into the lighter and play to pass time when you aren't driving.Good luck on the drive.

IT is about a 40 hour drive (on yahoo) so probably 50-60 hours. Actually, we'll be in the only place better than Miami for New Years...NEW ORLEANS! MY first time and what a great time that'll be. We are all in college, but we'll probably not drink on the drive there. Just at nite when we stop by at the bars ;) Anymore suggestions?

Stop at every main place you go through for at least 10 minutes and get something novel :) Should be fun to see all the stuff you've got at the end.

Do you mean including stops? Yahoo directions have always overestimated travel times in my past experiences. I made the 16.36 hour drive from fla to chicago in 14 flat. Not too much ridiculous speeding along the way. Getting a ticket in the middle of nowhere and having to come back to court for it is NO FUN AT ALL! :nono: What pattern are you guys using to switch drivers? Does one sleep while the other drives or do you plan on makin a general sleeping stop or two or three?

On your way out of town find something like a yard elf & snag it. Write down where it came from. Then take photos of it in all the states and places you hit. Now mail the pics back to the owner of the elf along the way. But please return it when you get back.
Sounds dumb, But its fun and pass's time along the way. :2cents:

Hmmm, don't really know. I guess we'll play it by ear. For sure we are gonna sleep at night. Both the dudes are in the same frat, so we can crash at the local frat house. Cheap motel, eh?
My uncle did the LA to miami deal a couples years back and he hit Texas by the first nite. That is nuts. New Orleans and Girls Gone Wild, here i come!

I make the trip from Central Florida to Pittsburgh PA every year or so. about 1000 miles, and supposed to be about a 20 hour trip. My uncle made it in 15 hours, I got obsessed and made the one way trip in 14 hours. Me and my dog, we stopped when the SE-R needed gas, got food, smokes, drinks and used the bathroom then. Back in the car doing 85-90mph in minutes. If I had to pee and the car wasn't down to at least a 1/4 tank, I used that as inspiration to go faster! :eek7:
I'll be driving from Jax Fl to Colorado this May, should prove to be interesting.
