as you can probably tell by looking under my username, i am a newbi to this forum. but i have been following many of your threads and i have to admit you guys have sparked an interest in RX-7's, mostly FD's, and rotary engines in general. now i have a few quick questions for you guys(and girl), most of which are opinion questions, about a little bit of everything.

1. what is the stock HP out of a 20B? what if you turboed it?

2. how hard is a 20B conversion, and about how much will it cost?

3. why is the RX-7 better than the Supra(or any jap car for that matter)?

4. if you were the proud owner of a FD and had an extra 10K laying around, what would your wish list be?

5. i've read alot about reliability being an issue, what mods are avaliable to increase the life of a moderatly tuned engine?

6. what kind of RWHP are we looking at to have an FD run mid 12's to low 13's?

feel free to add any additional advise that you might have. i hope you can tell from the number of questions that i asked, i am very ready to learn all that i can about RX-7 and rotary engines.

1. after extensive research, I honestly didn't know what they came with HP wise I only know its not uncommon to see over 500hp w/ 20B's BTW- They were came stock with twin turbos.
About 278HP HP
Here are the actual specs:
Out of all the twin-rotor engines, the el-supremo is the 13B REW twin turbo - with its twin intercoolers and staged turbos that help it on the way to delivering 190kW at the same 6500 rpm engine speed. But the biggest and baddest rotary everyone drools over is the later model 20B triple-rotor twin turbo - it's essentially a 13B with another rotor on the end. This resulting extra torque (402Nm at 3000 rpm) gives it a huge advantage over the other rotaries, and in standard guise it is capable of 208kW at 6500 rpm - although in reality it is probably more! This engine is fitted to the Japanese market Cosmo only.

KW x 1.341 = 1 HP

2. I have no idea the engine alone can cost from $3500 to $5000. Go here and ask these guys they are doing the swap

3. Neither is better than the other they are just a matter of taste - Apples and Oranges. There is no need ruining this thread with this debate.

4. -*This is MY personal choice*-
Single Turbo - $3500
Stand alone EMS - $1500
Exhaust - $1000
Suspension - $1000 (Adjustible Shox / swaybars)
Brakes - $200 - Better pads
Upgraded Intercooler - $1500
Variuos electronic goodies - 1500 - Boost controler turbo timer guages etc...

Look under Recommendations.

6. 275-300 will see low 13's to mid 12's.

Good luck!
