2000 chev malibu keyless entry box

On a 2000 chevy malibu where is the keyless entry box located. I just bought a new set of controllers and keyless entry control box off ebay . My malibu has power locks but never came with keyless entry . the guy i bought it from said there will be a plug thats not used and its for the keykless entry. SO all i have to do is plug it in but he couldnt tell me where it would be located....if anyone knows please help

I have 2001 Malibu LS and I'm pretty sure that they didn't offer that option in 2001. I can't imagine that they offered it in 2000 and not in 2001. I'd say that the guy on ebay was feeding you a line or didn't know what he was talking about. You might try calling your local Chevrolet dealer parts department and asking them if they offered it.

On a 2002 its under the rear deck. You can see it from the the trunk but I'm not sure you can remove or install it from the trunk. Look and feel around the center of the rear decking from the trunk.

Just stop up @ some audio or car place, they know and they should tell you cause i had them look @ mine and try to reprogram mine but i never asked where it was located...but mine was installed so it might not even be in the same spot as a stock one

I just realized that you are talking about the keyless entry with a key fob. I thought you were talking about keyless entry with a keypad mounted on the outside of the door. I think my brain was on vacation the day I posted that. Anyway, disregard what I posted. I do have the keyless entry on my 2001 Malibu. :screwy:

The box is located in the trunk under the rear speaker shelf. It is accessed thru the same hole as the third brake light and held in by 4 prongs that clip onto the sheetmetal. It's a box about 3 by 4 by 3/4 of an inch. The plug for it should already be in there somewhere but it is plug n play.
