Gst VS Corvette

it was dec 21, about 1:20am. when i was on my way home on the freeway from Barona when a corvette (not sure what kind, but it was one of the new ones) pulled rite beside me going about 70mph when we both down shift, i down it to 4th gear and hung with him all the Way to 140 he couldn't hazard me because we were side by side, we both slowed down and he gave me a thumbs up, i thought i was gonna lose Badly but nope....

the questions are
could it be the Jdm 4g63 motor? (not including the cyclone intake manifold cuzz i couldn't pass smog, so i had that replaced)
how fast are corvettes anyways?
may b my engine is built? i don't know cuzz the guy i baught the gst from was a fuckin rich ass, hes also a crazzie car machanic, on the front of his house was nothing but Motors, 1gsx, integra type R, civic EG with a type R motor inside, and a jdm right hand drive MR2, i mean this guy was crazzie, the gst was going for 10,000 and i told him i only have 5,000 in my pocket, he popped out his keys, took the money, did some paper work, and told me "i don't want to sell this car cuz imma lose a lot of money but imma sell it to u anyways, have fun" he smiled and i was off. i guess it was nothing to him, come on now he was a rich guy :)


could it b my gst? or thats how fast GSTs are?

I've never heard of putting on a cyclone manifold, but if you had a stock one that you replaced, the motor is not the same as US spec 4g63... however i doubt that even if you had that rare motor, you would be able to keep up with a corvette, where base they start at 350hp i think. If you think the guy modded your car, then it's probably true.. and 350hp-405hp (z06) is not hard to do if the guy knew what he was doing. Try and get a picture of your motor so we have an idea of what you have. Nobody can be for sure what happened on a forum where we know nothing about your car.

stock GST won't keep up with a vette, and i'm surprised you bought a car without asking him anything about it. Post a pic.

i bet its got a upgraded turbo

dude a gst is 210 hp stock and i forget the tq thinks its 210 or 215 ( kant remeber read it somewhere )

but ya maybe ur engine is built up and the guy forgot to mention it if he was a really was a craziii mechinac as u say and plus the Jdm 4G63 has 10 extra hp from what i was told ( correct me if im worng )

all i know is thats its twice as heavy and has twice the cylinders as a DSM

thanks...ill take a picture of the engine, and the head with the valve cover taken off... my engine looks exactly Stock...but iono whats inside of if, i should check out the cam shaft and pistons too

i didnt believe him that it was a jdm motor...it looks exactly the same as the us spec 4g63 motor...well u guys should check it out when i get the pictures, u guys are experts

one thing about that, though, the vette might not have been giving it all it had. I used to have a 98 Z28 with Cold Air Headers and Exhaust, I was pushing 330 hp to the wheels. I beat turboed eclipses all the time by about 3 car lengths. Anyway, i got cocky and raced a 2002 Vette in the quarter and he pulled me so damn fast. He got me by like 5 car lengths and my car was running 13.2's then. Shortly after that, I got a 2002 Eclipse. Don't have to worry about so many people wanting me to race, lol.

gst are capable of 11's with lots of mods
they can see 12's with light modification. if you keep up with a vette you are doing at least mid 13's if it was a modded vette then your look at 12's.. show us the pic and we can tell ur most of the preformance upgrades u have btw how much psi does ur boost gauge read?

Most vettes will run 13s. A 14 second FWD would be a 13 second AWD. Put 2 and 2 together and yo will find that on the highway a "slow" GST will keep up with vettes and other cars that out ET them typically. There is no traction dissadvanage on the highway. ;) A 1g FWD will have no trouble traping over 100 mph with simple mods, no matter how slow it is in ET. A 2g however will require a turbo upgrade to get over 100 mph in the quarter 99.99% of the time, for pump gas.

Comparing cars that raced on the highway using ET is retarded. MPH is the parameter we should be looking at :) In a race from a stop, where traction plays its part, ET is a good indicator. Hope that makes some sense.

That's what i was thnking... I went head to head with a Porsche Boxster on a freeway and we were neck and neck untill we hit traffic [the 55 freeway in newport beach CA ends into a main street]. it was the classic way i get into freeway races. i was in the fast lane and he came flying up trying to split the gap to pass a car in front of him from the next lane over. he wasn't going to make it, so i dropped gears and punched it. he was carrying a lot of speed and we just went at it. he got a lucky line thru traffic and i was driving like a maniac in the right lanes making crazy passes, but i kept up... we came up to the light and the guy was like "what do you got under the hood? I had it floored, and i thought i would for sure smoke you." to be honest i thought he was gonna have my ass too, but we were already at speed, so i figured 'let's race!'... i have no idea the specs on a boxster S but you know 'raised on the autobahn' blah blah...

I have gotten in many races where I should have either gotten my ass kicked or kicked ass, it also comes down to how much balls the guys has and how good of a driver he is. A stock c5 will beat the HELL out of any stock gst. I am a huge dsm fan I will be the first to say that.
