Hi, I have my car a relatively short time so I am still learning what parts are where, and what sounds are normal. 2001 V8 Aurora.
After starting the car cold, after about 10 seconds, I hear a motor or pump in the rear of the car that runs for about 5 seconds. It is not the fuel pump (I assume) because it runs *after* the car has been running, and then it stops.
My best guess is that it is some pump or compressor related to the StabiliTrak system. Do I win a prize? Or what is it, and where is it located?
Thanks

It is the air compressor for the suspension. It should come on just after startup to make sure the system is up to proper psi. Compressor is located just off center on passenger side of undercarriage.

The other day I noticed the compressor came on several times while I was driving. I drove for a few minutes, and when I came to a stop light, I heard the compressor come on for about 5 seconds. This happened twice in a 30 or 60 minute period.
Perhaps the compressor came on more frequently, but things were quiet at the stop light. The road noise (or radio 8^) ) prevented me from hearing it while driving.
How often is too much compressor cycling?
