Shorter O2 sensor for clearance?

Hello everyone,
I have a 97 Civic Lx and just installed headers. The primary O2 bung is welded to a single pipe and not after the four join together. I'd rather place the primary O2 sensor in the second bung, way down under the car, after all of the four pipes have collected.
My problem is that there is not enough clearance for the 2 5/8" oxygen sensor to clear the axel where it connects into the engine.
Is there an Oxygen sensor that is shorter than this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Thank you for your response. This new header has two o2 bungs, both of which are of course before the converter. I don't understand why it would be set up this way. The original manifold had one sensor before the converter, but after all four exhaust pipes collected. The second bung was after the converter. hmmm
