Fuel pressure questions

Please help me if you can. I've pumped a lot of money into my 88 150 ( new fuel pumps, new distributor, new coil etc) and it still runs rough.

I think the next step is to see if it's fuel or electical related.

Two questions:

1. How and where do you check the fuel pressure on this beast?

2. If I find out it is the fuel pressure regulator, how in the world do you get to the old one. Looking at it, it looks impossible to get to the bolts without taking off the intake?

Getting this thing running would be a great Christmas present!!

I realize this is an old post but I had an '86 with "sputtering" problems and it turned out to be a bad ground wire tot he inline fuel pump in the tank.

To answer your question about the fuel pressure, I believe you test it at the engine after it's gone through the in-line pump and the chassis mount high-pressure pump. It should read about 35 lbs. I believe but mine tested okay at idle and was only a problem under load. Black wire coming from the sending unit on the top of the tank was the culprit, had to change about 4' of it.

My 89' has a bleeder valve on the fuel rail. I've been told that there is where you make the connection. Good luck!
