Help! I've got a fast idle on a "78" 20R and limited references.
I've dialed down the fast idle screw and the mixture, etc.
I think something may have vibrated off the choke. She runs fine when the engines cold , but get to temp and its 1500 RPMs. I idle at 40 miles an hour, yes I've checked the throttle linkage. Any help at this point would be appreciated, I have the Haynes for the Hi-lux pick-up no help in diagnosing this. The chokes stuck open! :banghead:

Trash the carb. Install a 32/36 Weber with the included adapter. Problem solved :).

Replace the vacuum lines...on the 83 there's a bunch of vacuum lines. Also check your fuel filter and air filter. If that doesn't do it, trash it. The 32/36 will be worth every penny. Almost all the vacuum lines wil be eliminated, simplifying the whole set up...and it's a lot easier to tune and troubleshoot. I did it on my 79 with a 20R, and my 83 with a 22R...and these were both my work trucks :).
