integra motor swap question

Havnt been in this forum at all because im usually in the CRX chat but im about to sell my car and buy an integra.

anyway, there is an integra thats been sitting outside a neighbors house for over a year because the motor is blown in it. Im not exactly sure but im pretty sure the car is either a 94 or 95 LS and I am pretty sure they would sell it for an awesome price just to get it off their property.......anyway, my question is, how difficult would it be be to drop an H22 into it or is it even possible? if I cant fit an H22 into it what would the fastest cheapest motor I could fit into it? thanks in advance for ANY input!

putting an h22 motor in an integra is possible - and its a great idea - another one you can consider is building a frankenstien engine for it

like a B20 block, and a v tec head or something? is that a frankenstein motor? I really am not all that familiar with this stuff.......how hard would It be to put an h22 into it?

H22 is doable and would show great gains but it is one of the more difficult choices I believe. Plus it would be costly.

What exactly is blown on the engine.... if the block and head are still good, maybe it can be rebuilt and turboed:naughty::naughty: cheaper than doing a swap?

yeah - you have the right idea for a frank - i think sometimes you can use an ls block and then put like a b16a head on it, and then i read something about making it vtec too . . . but i forget - and an h22 is difficult to put in - and kinda costly - but you would get great power, i think you might have to get new engine mounts - on a civic i know you do - cuz my friend did it, but im not familiar with doing that in a teg though . . .

an a h22/vtec would be nice in an integra but it pretty difficult to do, i brought this up to a couple mechanics and they both said its doable and you will get nice power, but you will spend alot of money too. you might consider like a gsr with a fully built head or something.

First you have to decide how much time, effort, and $$$ you want to be putting into this thing.

H22 can be done. From what I understand it's a pretty tight fit, but performance is awesome.
-----things to consider--where do you live--does it get hot--do you want air conditioning b/c that would take some serious fabrication if you do

Frankenstein--also can be done, I have considered it in my LS. But if you think you're going to just slap a b16a head on and drive off, think again. It needs to be done right! Not only that If you're going to need a new engine anyway why not just get a b18c1 or c5? Just my opinion.

my problem is I know I wont have more then 3k for the swap, and im pretty sure thats high balling it, with 2500-3k is there anything I would be able to do?

Take a look on ebay for motor swaps. Even if you don't find exactly what you are looking for a lot of those guys have links to get what you want. You could pick up a gsr swap for around that much cash, and then you could bolt on some other goodies and have all the juice you need until you get enough money to do something serious with it. Beside if it has been sitting around for a while you are going to have to consider that it will need other work such as the brakes.

You could also pick up an ls motor for cheap and then tune that up. You could get a lot of juice out of one of those. TRUST ME! :smokin:

I agree w/ K P . b18b's are good motors. You could get one for a great price. also you could check into b16a (make sure it is a 2nd generation)
but for the amount of money you have you could get more done to a b18b.(and benefit from the extra displacement)

A B16 powered integra would get raped by any LS integra. The B16 is a horrible choice for the integra I don't know whay people are under the misconception that it is a good motor, b/c it is not! It is fine for a civic but not good for a DC chasis teg. And yes I am aware that the JDM DA chasis tegs came with B16's but those cars also weighed less too. Now I would get a B18B and boost it. For the money it will be the fastest by far. Or ytou could get the B18B and biuld it and it will be no slouch if built right. Just my :2cents:

i still never know why some people try to go for the b16 route in their teg? :screwy: they gain some hp but they lose in tq, so it's kind of pointless. the only difference now is your spending more money. there's no replacement for displacment, yes this also goes for imports.

I would get it and rebuild the stock engine, and put in forged internals and get it ready for boost. You can always buy the turbo later. Like just get JE pistons(9:1 compression) and eagle or crower rods. Eagle is cheaper, and if you don't plan to boost more than 18 PSI you are fine. Plus the fact that you can't boost more than 15 PSI safely on the stock cylinder sleeves leaves Eagle rods as the better economical choice. You might as well bore it out, say 1 mm and make sure you get oversized pistons and rings! Oh I just thought Wiseco makes good pistons too, and usually they come with a matched set of rings.

H22 is just too much work. And why would you want to swap if you already got the perfect candidate motor for boost? LOL, stick with the B18B and you will be making 300 HP before you know it. Go stomp those LS1 trans ams and V8 mustangs and come home happy getting 30 MPG.
