Hi,
I have this Hyundai GETZ 1.6 DOHC car. Recently I have this weird Tak Tak Tak Tak sound on morning start. The sound only lasting for 2 or 3 mins only. I'm not sure from where this weird sound came from. Checked & adjust all the belts tension with my mechanic. But the sound still happen on cold start. Please advise me on this matter.

sounds like a lazy lifter, have your mech with you when you start from cold and have him listen under the bonnet at top end of motor.

one other thought,if cam belt is fitted it could be slack.and will only make a noise for a short while.(it flaps against timing covers).

yes, change timing belt, but how about a valve /rocker arm adjustment?
My car had awful valve noise, then someone showed me how to adjust the valves/rocker arm clearance and it has improved alot.
Could be your problem. The noise will go away after the engine heats up and the parts expand to take up the clearance between the rocker and valve, which causes noise

Sounds like the lifters haven't been upgraded. The cylinder head is the same design as the Mitsubishi (it's made by Mitsu!) 2.0 DOHC. There is an updated psrt out there for the lifters, they have a larger oil hole in the top of them. There is a TSB out on it, and I'll see if I can find the exact info and post it.
I would check the TIMING BELT also, not specifically for the noise, but they should be replaced every 60,000 miles. I believe that engine is an interference design (valves will bend if the belt lets go) and it's a lot cheaper, and makes sense to replace the belt before it breaks, rather than have big $$$ in repairing the head.
