I have a 97 civic and recently it started making occasionally a clicking sound underneath the drivers side foot well. I thought it might be a belt but I took it to a guy who supposedly is pretty accurate and said it most likely is my left trans axle needs to be replaced. He said not to worry unless it starts to happen a lot he said prob for not another 1-2 years would it be an issue. Well its back louder and constant. It rythmiclally (sp?) taps when I left off the gas. It gets quieter when I hit the brakes and is more when I turn right. I also am getting a vibration out of the left side when it happens. I have to go to MD for the holidays and I cant get it fixed for maybe a week or so and I have to drive atleast 200 more miles with it like this. I have do not have any knowledge in suff like this and I could use an opinion or two. Oh yeah its been constant for about a few days now and I havent had time to get it fix cause of work. What should I do? Can it take it for a bit more???

sounds like your driver's side CV Joint is going out, you should have it repaired as soon as you can.

What will happen when it goes?

Replace it ASAP! If its breaks you will have uneven power to one side, axle dragging, etc. Could do more damage than already there, a reman. alxe is about $65.00 not including labor.

65 would be REALLY cheep, i paid 100 for mine and that was the cheepest i could find. the clicking is not good however my drivers side has been doing it for while now and i drove 1000 miles to school through the rockies and didnt lose sleep over it. things not to do are let the tires spin espetially when the wheels are turned and try not to make any sharp turns. if it goes the damage will not be because of the uneven power (mine slipped out of the transmission once just enough that it didnt catch and my it was just like i ws in neutral except the speedo still worked) it will be the fact that an 18 inch shaft will be flinging aroung your engine compartment ad i have seen it happen, it makes a loud bang but the car did drive again however it was a wreck 82 corolla and that was a heavily abused car tho so if you take it easy you should be alright
