Let's see if I remember correct-

Celica GTS/180hp w/VVT
0-60 7 sec. approx.

Teg GSR/170hp w/VTEC
0-60 also 7 ish?

I might have to go with the celica on this one.
I do agree that it is an overrated car. Not even in the same league IMO.

But as far as straight line accel. goes (stock for stock) celica might have upper hand. That is assuming both your driving skills are equal.

equal driving skills, celica gts would win. more hp, torque, and lighter. it all comes down to the driver because the specs of both cars are fairly close.

i have a 94 gs-R and this punk kid in school has gt-s(6 speed) this was about 4 months ago the dumbass thaught he was tight cause his was a brand new car anywho i beat him by like 1/2 a car length i took off alot better but hes started gainin on me in the end.h and win i forst got my car i dyno tested it like 3 days after i got it and it pulled 186hp to the flywheel and 160.4 to the front wheels
but i would bet money on the race it awfully close and i agree with evryone else in this thread it all depends on the better driver.

The GTS will not win if you have better driving skills, plus you will take him off the line but watch out when he hits 3rd.launch at 3000rpm's then feather it till v-tec kicks in. shift quick from 1st-2nd then double clutch the rest of the gears.

S1 Type-R
12-29-2003, 07:34 PM
I own a Type-R Its just a bit modified then the GS-R so im asumming they are pritty close...

I also own a Celica GTS and I can tell you that it now way compares to the Integra....Its nice but VVTL-I has nothing on V-Tec :)

white gsr
12-31-2003, 02:31 AM
what do you exactly mean by feathering the clutch (easying it out slightly?) sounds like this would burn some serious clutch.

HondaIntegraXSI
12-31-2003, 11:24 AM
let out where it slipps till you hit v-tec, then engage fully, but practice it before you race, it knocked .7 secs off my 400km time. I turn a 14.6 on the 400 on a n/a car with a sub, a/c, p/s, and my fat ass.

HondaIntegraXSI
12-31-2003, 11:28 AM
You need a good clutch if you race a lot. I make 4-10 track visits a week. I have a slightly moded motor with a spoon clutch, and it has endured almost 150,000 km of had ass driving.

the celica got u stock on stock but if yall both mod up ur car equally you will take him because the b18c1 is the betta engine.... and im takin a lil polll i got a gsr wit low mileage would it be better for me to go all motor or to go turbo....i was thinking all motor cuz going turbo is realli expensive..but cant i be as fast all motor as turbo?

whtteg was correct.

w/ equal drivers, u'll lose. if u out-launch him (not jus out-shift him), then u'll beat him.

i know my buddy's gt-s ran a 14.9 w/ only an intake w/ full interior an shitty tires. they're pretty quick if u know how to drive.

well....I own a 95 teg gsr( just custom cat) and I raced a 2000 celica GTS( had exhaust and maybe intake??). But it was an automatic and I beat him by 1 car link. But it'd be close between a GSR and a GTS(5speed), if there both stock. I think that GSRs are heavier and are at 170hp and Celica GTS are 180hp. Now if theyre both modified then thats a different story.
ps yeah the driver does make a difference

OK for the record "double clutching" is the dumbest thing, not to mention that it is the biggest waste of time durring a race. It does absolutely nothing for you unless you are a F&F ricer then it will make you faster, but only if you are a F&F ricer!

cept...the gt-s never came in a 5-sp. only 6sp or the shit auto tranny (dunno why u'd even get the gt-s in an auto.)

guys, we've already said that the gsr weighs more...and has less power...with the same drivers...its slower. period.

I remember when I first asked my dad(he knows a lot about driving) he said it was something you would do if you were downshifting. He got pissed off at me cause I kept saying that BS from the movie. Anyways, it was adlibbed, vin diesel didnt know what the hell he was talking about. The downtime from the clutch being disabled would cancel any gain. "its like having extra gears...." STFU....:nono:

Well what it is used for is older trucks etc that have no synchros in the trannies , the double clutching that was needed has been replaced with synchros, so it is not needed anymore. It does ot hurt anything but it does not help you any either. When downshifting I can see were it would be better for your tranny but it is really not needed at all with most of the cars today.

No I know. I dont think its too good for the clutch personally(racing wise), and I do use it when driving around because the less work I put on the syncros the longer theyll lkast.

with the gts having a 6-speed, does that make the shifts shorter? ie: gsr would be shifting less often? i wonder... what is max rpm on the celica. as high as the gsr? (goes to check). I remember a comparison done in R&T with the teg... a celica... and something else. the only thing the teg gsr lost out on was it's "outdated" styling (crap btw, i think they're great looking). to bad i don't have it anymore. was back in 99 i think.

id rather have a Celica over an integra, just my opinion.

By the way, has anyone seen this 160hp Mazda 3
The HP is good, 150 ft/lb torque , Sporty interior, nice exterior. only problem : its a mazda :frown:

16k price tag is nice too

how many gears really doesn't matter when he shifts. ur thinking about the gear ratios. they are some-what similar, and both would be shifting within a second of the other.

the redline begins at 7800 RPM (i believe, correct me if im wrong,) and i remember an article between the type r and the gt-s, and the type r was only a bit better. once again, the gt-s is faster overall than the gsr...

Oh, for god sake :screwy: . Both are good cars damn. I own a 2000 Celica GT-S 6 speed for all you people that will later ask if I have an auto. The GSR is fast, and have tooken a ride in my buddy's a couple time's. I used to see tail lights all the time when I owned my SPEC V. Also to clear it up, The GT-S has fuel cut off at 8200rpm's :bananasmi . Has 180hp (and for the people that dont know) with 167hp to the wheels. At around 6000rpms we have whats called "LIFT" (VVTL-i....VARIABLE VALVE TIMING LIFT INTELLEGENCE) in every gear, which is like VTEC, but stronger. Once "LIFT" hits Its like hitting the nitrous button in a GSR. The GT-S has 140hp but when at 6000rpms another 40hp gives the GT-S a boost. Are you following me so far. :eek7: . The 02 model is the only year they made fuel cut off at 7200rpms, which makes the GT-S a little slower then others. The GT-S has for a stock vehicle, incredible high end power because, like I said, "LIFT". but lacks power in the low end becuase of its 130TQ. Hopefully this will help you guys think just a little different about a DAMN GT-S, especiallyl the guy who is asking if he will win. "DONT RUN HIM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS". pretty much dont do it from a roll. If you have a good launch, and take off before him try to stay as far ahead as you can, because no matter what, even if he is an ok driver the engine will go into "LIFT" and will soon catch up and pass. Hopes this helps :iceslolan
