What is the main difference between a 911 Turbo and a 911 Turbo S. I am looking to buy a 97 911 Turbo S and I was just wondering why they called the 96 911 a Turbo but a 97 Turbo S. Thanks.

In Germany, I bought a new 911 Turbo S in 2002. The difference to the standard Turbo was a Engine enhancement. Key modifications include larger compressor and turbine units together with uprated intercoolers and an increase in boost pressure from 0.8 to 0.9 bar. The finished product is a jump in outright power from 420 to 450 bhp.

Maximum torque is raised by more than 10% to 620 Nm, enabling rapid acceleration and enhanced flexibility over the entire engine-speed range.

Given the extensive nature of the modifications to the engine and gearbox, this particular package is only available as a factory-fitted option.

According to reports that I have read the 0-100 time is 3.9 secs with a top speed of 309kms.
