They raced (1/5 mile) or something old vs new cars
Old Mk1 Golf beat Mk5 Golf
New MRS beat old MR2 (Mk1)
Escort Cosworth whooped new Focus RS
Peugeot 206 Gti 180 beat old 1.9 Gti 205
300 ZX Twin Turbo beat 350Z
Old is faster than new thats what they concluded. God damn funny
According to Clarkson neither the Focus or Cosworth were losers but he's sucking up to ford so he can get his name down for the new GT40

Tiff is just amazing....he obviously know how to handle a car...and i just love his reviews....he is obviously passionate about cars and even if he finds something he doesn't like he just brings constructive criticism
Clarkson is nothing compared to Tiff in driving skills and he seems just too biased to me...
He keeps bashing all the sequential transmissions...in the M3, 360Modena, Vanquish...just because he doesn't like to use it...
Also what was the deal with the 350Z review...it basically said its crap...claims that it handles like crap and its engine its a POS...how can that be...every other review loved the VQ35 engine
but Clarkson keeps saying its a POS french engine...since when was the VQ35 a french engine (btw he repeats it several times)

Used to watch it a lot and loved it when I was in ye Uk.
Clarkson is fun to watch even if he's overdoing some time to time. I really appreciate the series he did on "Speed", specially the Schumarer interview.
Tiff got more professionnal testing skills and approach. Has anyone seen him when he drove the double engined Tiger Z100WR? By the way is he still on "5th Gear" on Channel 5?

The Peugeot Sport Official Owners Club (www.psooc.com) were asked to provide a 1.9 205 GTI (130bhp) to go against the 206 GTI 180. Why they didn't compare it to the normal 206 GTI (138bhp) I'll never know. But then again it was not a proper test as they didn't go round the track and they didn't thrash the cars.
Still it makes interesting watching (even though I missed the last episode :'( ) Where can I download if from?

Well looking at the (stunning) mint condition of the 205, I think the owner wouldn't have appreciated that. I saw a similar test in a magasine when the 206 GTI cames out. They compaired it with the 1.9... the result?... no contest the old lady was on the top regarding sensations.

Missed Top Gear a couple of nights ago, and the last one in the present series is on next Sunday, here in the UK.
To be honest, I preferred Top Gear when it wasn't studio based, and had Clarkson, Needell and Wilson presnting. With the studio presentation, they spend too much time trying to make funny comments and not enough time in the programme is devoted to testing the cars.
Not sure how long Top Gear has been running, but I remember watching it in the days when Noel Edmunds presented it ( found out ... 20 years ago - the show began in 1978 ).
Another really good motoring programme ( on Channel 5 here in the UK ) is called 5th Gear, which Tiff Needell presents along with that Vicki Butler-Henderson - both ex Top Gear presenters.
Link to 5th Gear, here (http://www.five.tv/home/frameset/?content=2278491).

The 205's owner is our regular show and shine winner's second car (he has a 306 as well).
Funny how it was the same car that Clarkson drove about 4 years ago and was in Evo when they did a comparison with the new 206 GTI!!!

It was in different hands then!

if you want to watch Tiff Needell make cars dance there is always fifth gear.
I got 4 DVD's for christmas 1 benig Jeremy Clarkson and a bunch of cars. The other being Tiff Needell's Burning Rubber in which he shows you how to do donuts and 360's at 70mph and how to slide a FF car. And it looks damn good.
WEEEEEEEEEEE
Anyways Clarkson is funnier than Needell and swapping them would be a travesty.

When will BBC America cave in a run top gear in the U.S.? Anyways, as for the controversy over who is better, Tiff or Clarkson, I like them both.
Obviously, Tiff is better for the high end car reviews. he bases his reviews not on functionality, but on performance and driver invovlment due to his racing history. Clarkson is more of a family man, he looks at more than performance and into the practicality, sometimes too much...
Oh well. so when will it come to america?

email BBC America till they show it
As for DVD's there is a best of series one and two but it doesn't include everything. the other thing is its pal and if you live in the States unless you bought a Multi region DVD player and Plasma TV (since those are the only tv's that come as multi region or universal) it won't play. It would probably work on your PC tho. Although i don't know for sure

A recent TG mag had a free DVD with it.. cars including the Zonda, Koenigsegg, DB7GT & other good highlights.
I agree with CeeJay that the new studio-based programme isnt really up to scratch. it can be funny but overall i say cut the chit-chat and lets have more cars!
Tiff rules, last time i saw 5th gear he was thrashing an M3CSL around a track and before that a Zonda - the guy is obviously very talented.
Neutrino, youre absolutely right, Clarkson sometimes puts down a car for some obscure reason or for something that goes against what everyone else has said about the car... he's biased but funny, and a good presenter.. i love his digs at 5th gear.. "now we'll move up from 5th gear... to TOP GEAR!" with a cheeky smile at the camera...
If only JC, Tiff & Quentin could be reunited.. that would kick ass :(

I went to a motorshow at the birmingham NEC ages ago and Clarkson shouted at quentin 'Get over here you bald bastard' because they had a Top Gear stand and they had to do a show.
It would be reasonable to have Tiff and Quentin back but somehow i think that Jeremy Clarkson left Top Gear originally because of those two anyway and the new format for Top Gear is much better than the old which fifth gear uses. Although i don't think Quentin does fifth gear anymore. He seems to only do Britain's worst celebrity driver. Note Tiff Needel also presents some other shows based on engineering achievements and also narrates most of the other shows that deal with this sector.
However the other two blokes on top gear now are good enough and the Stig is good enough to be the test driver. I just wish the Stig was Damon Hill. He can drive.
