how do i loosen the tension on the belt
Actually it is very easy. I am not a expert but I replaced my belt and tensioner not long ago on my 1996 taurus. First I would recommend you go to Auto Zone and they will loan the tool to loosen your belt tensioner. It is in a very tight place and that tool makes it way easier. Or you can buy it for 20.00 dollars. All you have to do is connect that socket to nut on the belt tensioner and push it back and that releases the tension on the belt. You will have to hold that back or it will snap back on you. When you have the old belt off you install the new one and then just let go of tensioner and it goes back automatically. Hope that Helps!
