Thinking of getting a Hedgehog, anyone already own one?

I was just thinking of maybe getting a Hedgehog. I've had a couple Hamsters in the past, but due to a combination of my youth/short life span of Hamsters, they weren't the happiest times. I'd get really attached, and then something would happen to them (escape from the cage= victim of the cat, and the second died from some sort of affliction) Hedgehog's lifespans are supposedly 6 to 10 years, and I'm older now etc. etc. Anyways, not too many people own them, so it'd be kinda neat to be like "yea, I have a Hedgehog." :icon16: Plus I think they're cute (and cool looking obviously.) So, anyone already own one? I'm waiting 'till after the holidays before I seriously consider it, just to make sure I have the money, and that this isn't some sort of spur-of-the-moment urge. I just want something that's a little more interactive than my fish

Naw, I'm not THAT simple :icon16:
I did name my first hamster "Sega" though. I was younger, and thought it was great. Plus Sega owns. How could you not love the Saturn? Great system. But I don't want to steer the topic off Hedgehogs :lol2:

Hedgehogs are pets in your country are they ?. They're dirty animals that carry disease and vermin over here.

The UK.
I know somebody with an African Hedgehog as a pet, they're great little pets.
Domesticated hedgehogs are perfectly safe pets, it's the ones in the wild that can be dangerous, but the same goes for anything....hamsters, rats, mice....all animals people have as pets while forgetting elsewhere they are pests.

Seriously - I've never known or heard of anyone here in the UK who has one of these things as a pet. I've a wild one that comes into my garden a lot in the evenings.

hehe I love hedgehogs. We've rescued quite a few from our swimming pool over the years and taken them to the vets to be "dried". I think they're awesome animals.

old joke time.....
What's the difference between a police car and a hedgehog?
With a hedgehog, the pricks are on the outside.

Then get a dog, it'll have a personality to go alonf with that activity.
Could you imagine if Richard Gere had gone with a hedgehog instead of gerbil....ouch??
