I have a car case 4x4 tranny, works when it was taken out of a 88 K2500. Since it is a car case it wont take the strut rods if you are using them.

Strut rods? Are you talking about the torsion bars?

No. Since chevy pattern trannys are not 'full circle' bellhousings, on the 4x4s chevy started using a thicker bell housing for 4x4 trannys and an aluminum converter cover. the strut rods run from the motor mounts down to the bottom of the converter cover, hence the converter cover is retained with larger bolts. a car tranny CAN be drilled and tapped to take the correct converter cover. I am not using the strut rods in my 91 T10 (Blazer) as the engine mount side is not there - not all of them had it, it was std on the trucks, optional as part of the offroad package on the T10s.

I would rather not have a car transmssion in my 4x4. My 92 is fully optioned, with skidplates and such all over the underside. I do not have the strut rods.
