which would be better (acceleration-reliability) for 95 integra gsr?

-this
spoon ecu, DC sports 4-2-1 header,skunk intake manifold, dyno tunin

or this
-jackson supercharger

Ive noticed intake manifolds really dont do a whole lot on simple setup cars. Id go with a jackson supercharger, you'll get about 300%-400% more HP, not to mention torque over those other things. All motor is a lot more expeensive. To really take advantage of that spoon ecu, you'd also need some better camshafts and beefed up valvetrain to get into those upper rpm.

im not too worried about the spoon chip..... i only paid 15 bucks for it...most ppl have told me to just go wit the supercharger... thats prob wat ill end up doin.

thanks for the help

Why S/C? Less low end HP than Turbocharger....less Torque than Turbocharger...and you DO NOT GET 300% more HP off a S/C. Thats laughable!! Maybe a 100%...if that. AND your stuck with the HP the S/C gives you...you cant upgrade like the Turbochargers!! Research this one better before buying one!

which would be better than?
spending $3000 on the jackson supercharger

or spending $3000 on turbo components + tuning

get the rev hard stage II turbo kit, its one of the best kits out there whereas turbonetics make great turbos but they don't come in a kit. with the rev hard u can get a complete kit for around 2700 off of ebay.

oh yes, 300% more horsepower from a s/c is not realistic, it is more of an increase of 30-40hp

Turbonetics DOES make a kit...sorta. Revhard is a really good kit though. If researched you would find that Turbonetics kits are made by FMAX....and they come with a ceramic Ball Bearing turbo.

*sigh* Here we go again.
JRSC's are crappy. They give 40% gain not 400%. Plus they don't have all the low end torque that they claim. Go to their website once, check out their own dyno charts. They say ''off idle to max RPM'' it gives you more power. LOL, wrong! Their own dyno charts show it doesn't do ANYTHING until 3K RPM! And it only gains 10 HP after that for ever 1000 RPM. Turbo car would majorly destroy a jackson SC car any day of the week.

first of all, if you are worried about power under 1000 rpm you're looking for the wrong things out of a car.

second, don't buy a turbo kit, make one, it's cheaper and saves money for more stuff.

3rd even 100% gain is laughable. the gains can roughly be measured by....

{[(P/14.7)+1]*B}-L=X

when...

P=boost in PSI
14.7=ambient air pressure in PSI
B=base power in HP
L=paracitic loss (pully loss) in HP
x=new power in HP

following this theory a GSR 170 stock at the crank at 7.5PSI boost and a conservative 10 hp parasitic loss would equate to ~246.73hp at the crank, and after drivetrain loss more like 210-220 wheels.

247 - 170 = 77 hp increase, a ~45% increase in power.

GRR get a turbo, make a kit, and spank JRSC'ed cars.

I never said power below 1000 RPM, I said starting at 3K it makes power and for every 1000 RPM after that it gives another 10 HP. So 4000 RPM it has made 10 extra HP, 5000 RPM it has made 20, etc. See how crappy it is? you only get 40-50 HP out of JRSC, where as turbo you are going to have 50 HP increase by 4000 RPM.

If he wasn't a noob I'd tell him to build his own kit. But it's his first time ever dealing with turbos. So he might miss something, or screw something up and blow his engine up.

hehe, missing something and blowing shit up is the best way to learn. :wink:

LOL, well I agree to some extent. I think thats what this forum is here for, so people can learn and not make mistakes that are very costly.

I think he meant '30-40% gains'...or atleast I hope he meant that...because if superchargers made 300%-400%hp I think I'd be buying me one of those...hell that's be 3xstock hp..lol...right...but yeah...both of those choices kind of suck...go turbo!
