1st mod on a new car?

Ok... lets say hypothetically that u jus got a 97 240sx - u have no money left but u have a minimum wage job - what would be the 1st mod u would save up for?

shock / spring combo or a coilover setup. that's what i did to mines =). kyb gr2 shocks and kg/mm dualrate springs.

i've already gone to step two! chyess! 5zigen fn01r-c bronze... drool but no tires to mount yet :uhoh:

I'd save my money for gas

personally I would get an intake, maybe injen, cause it will boost your performance and save you some gas lol....helps in the long run...

Pulley then intake is my opinion...but either are a good choice.

Anything that isn't in good working condition should be replaced before any mods though...except if it's something like a cupholder.

Money for gas is also a great point...I'm getting ready for the gas mpg drop once I get mine...hopefully the first few mods will bring the gas mpg up a few so it won't hurt as much. How many miles per tank do you guys average on your 240s? Also how many gallons is the 240 tank?

I'd say screw the little preformace mods, and work on either the suspension, or just save it for somthing bigger like a custom turbo set up.

I get around 21.5 miles to the gallon. On a full tank (13 gallons) it lasted till 280 till it was empty, costed around $23 to fill up on 93 premium. Not bad, definetly wasn't as gas efficient as my 92 civic but then again it doesn't run on rice

As for first mod, I'm debating between dropping it and getting some 17s, or injen intake w/ cold air extention + a'pexi dual n1's. What do you all think?

me says coilovers or rims unsprung weight will help mileage too.

P.S. Integra is very right. Learn you're car before you mess with it, because then you won't have to learn on the fly. You'll know you're car better that way.

I'd say buy a K&N filter, custom make the piping, and custom make a cold airbox... give you something to work on so its more fun and is like 1/4 the price of an intake and its better cuz you have the cold air box too! personally I don't know why more people don't do it...

actually, learning how to drive better/faster is an ongoing process, as it would never end. because your car frequently changes its mood(so many variables from engine to tranny to suspension to tires even the seat you sit in), it's quite obvious that a good driver understands a car's engineering. i'm guessing you probably wanted to say, "learn how to understand your car."

And yes, you learn something new every day. I'm just saying learn how to drive it stock before you learn how to drive it modded, that way it will be a shorter process.

I think more people just need to learn how to drive on the streets, fuck driving your car on a performance level lol, there are some real idiots out there with their ricers making the scene look bad.
