Hi.
Isn't it interesting how the Caprice nameplate still sells over there but not back home? Could it be something simple like "Impala" means something else in Arabic?
Didn't they have an issue with "Nova" in Italian a few years back?
Also, I read somewhere recently that Buick was rethinking the name for their new unit because it was some kind of slang term in Quebec!

I noted the Impala logos on the trunk and wheels, btw. Thanks for posting the pix. I just picked up the new Impala SS brochure on Saturday. Interesting comparison.

Truthfully...WTF is Chevy thinkin by not introducing that car in the U.S.??? Am I mistaken though? It looks like the current Impala from that one rear corner angle....but the rest of it looks new, I dont know. The interior looks beautiful, I've never seen a Chevy look that expensive before. I think they're missing something just like that in their american market. :banghead:

Holden the Australian Chevrolet producer is the current builder of the Caprice with either a v6 of the LT1 5.7Litre 350, Their cars for Australia are right hand drive and are very sporty....

This link should take you to the Holden Gallery of the Caprice...They only have two photos of it.....but one can also build their own cars and the Caprice with the LT1 5.7Litre 350 is over 70,000 AU dollars.....Hope this helped you boys that aren't happy about Europe getting the Caprice.

Also if you look into the 2004 Pontiac GTO it is a Holden turned Pontiac. It was contracted to Holden by General Motors for Pontiac. So every thing in the new GTO is from Australia.

As the Caprice the Morano CV8 comes standard with the Generation III 5.7 Litre v8 which is the LT1.

Yes they are all 5.7L engines, I understand that. I was making the point that the previous poster, Diamond-wulf (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=173438) , was incorrect in stating two things:

1 - the Holdens have the LS1 not the LT1.
2 - The LS1 is the Gen III

Does this car have anything to do with the CTS in ANY way? I was lookin at the interior and thought i noticed a similarity or two....who knows..i may be wrong

It doesnt matter if it is an Impala symbol...if you knoew anything about automobiles in general you'd know that things like that go on in the industry...I.E....sable-taurus......firebird-camaro....altima-maxima.....contour-mystique.....civic-integra.......regal-cutlass-monte carlo-gran prix.....tahoe-yukon-escalade.....expedition-navigator.....armada-QX56.......vette-xlr.....do I need to go on?

Im not gonna badmouth you yet, first off...lets end this convo right here because you've clearly shown me that you dont know what the hell is goin on. All I did was ask a question. I know exactly what I have a pic of, that my friend is the new CTS-V. I've had that pic up there for the past 6 months,its called a signature...avatar...whatever, I wasnt doin a comparo. I'll go into the Lexus forum if I want with the same pic speakin on an LS 430...doesnt really matter

Wow! You just blew my mind with this car info. Why is this beaut. of a car sold only in the Middle East? I own a 1984 Caprice Classic though I wouldnt mind upgrading to a 04' model.

Why does that look so much like the current impalas from the front? I dont like it. It just doesnt say caprice, it says... restyled impala. True, the caprices and impalas were just about the same before, but they were huge RWD boats before. When they made the impala FWD they ruined it. And that looks like a restyled FWD Impala.
EDIT: The body styling kinda looks like the cadillac catera, they ugly too.

Yes, this car is sold here in Saudi Arabia under the logo of Cadillac, with the name (CTS). That's all what I know, but the price is some f&@ crazy !!! it worths 1.5 times of Lexus RX330 price !! I would buy two RX330's for me and my brother instead of paying for this (tight) one. However, everyone agrees about the greatness of the features in this car. The advertising campgain that GM Middle East is launching on this car had the title of (The Peak of Technology with Luxury) and you will agree if you ride this CTS. :)

I used to own a 1984 chevy caprice in mint cont. till i got rear ended and slamed into a pole car had over 360,000 miles on it when i had to junk it cause i couldnt afford the repairs at the time.

I spoke to a chevrolet rep at the auto show a few months back to show how clueless they can be about there own company. I heard rumors last year about an 04 caprice over seas so at the auto show in nyc i asked the woman if they were going to release it over here and she replys i had no idea they were making caprices anymore i told her they should over here cause the new impala isnt a full size sedan despite its predicsesors (sp?) lol that chevy doesnt have a full size out now and that would be just the thing to do

yeah that car is pretty nasty (nasty means good), it looks alittle like the impala, but you can tell its bigger, and yeah, chevy does need that over here. chevy doesn't have any big cars, ford still has the crown vic.

Yeah man that Caprice is like fresh water...Even though the Caprice and Impala share the same platform..the blood runs deep in the Caprice..it just spells brute......I see they actually made the cars one..That kinda sux..they were two different cars..kinda like twins....looking the same but different...that is the only thing I see they need to switch....The Caprice dosen't need the Impala imprint...it can sell it self.....GM is outta there minds..The Caprice is the second most popular car out of the Chevy line after the Vette..its not the Nova,the Camaro,or even the Imapla..its the Caprice Classic......Glass house baby....!!
