Boom and it's dead, and won't start

Hello all,
Have 94 astro, and the last time my wife drove it (yesterday) the lights flickered, there was as surge and it stalled. She could not restart it. I tryied to get the error code, but when I jump the connector the check engine light does not come on? It turns over just fine and I don't smell any fuel.

Could the computer be fried? I think I have come acrossed the problem, please comment if it makes sense. There is a 4 wire connector behind the battery that goes through the fire wall to the fuse block. It powers the computer, head lights and other stuff. Is it possible that corrosion has shorted this or broken this connection?

Did some research and found the problem. Behind the battery is a terminal block the is the direct positive feed to 4 wires. One of these is to the ECM. It had corroded and fried the wires. Jumped the bad plug and it runs like a champ now.

Is this also true on a 97 astro van...mine will just stop..but start right back up...

It's possible, if the corrosion on the plug isn't totally shorting out the connection. It is easy enough to check the plug.
