s-10 electrical problems

okay..1989 S-10 2.5L motor 2wd 5speed. The thing has been running funny for a while. No real power, cuts out when you release the clutch, runs hot. Now it has a new problem..the speedometer and fuel guage have quit working. Fuses are good do not know about ECM. Any suggestions?

My digital speedo on my 1989 had the same problem.

Turns out the battery went bad or alternator. Charged the battery and everything went back to working. Had just enough juice to start the truck and run poorly. Haven't pulled it out yet to see if the batt or alt is bad.

i'm not sure what the problem could be, i have a few good ideas, but i wouldn't have guessed that. could you explain what happend exactly please and how you fixed it thank you

and how long is a while

It was the battery. Had a bad cell. I replaced it and have since sold the truck to my nephew. He's running the wheels off it.
