My Blazer Died

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer with 46,000 miles. The other day I left in the vehicle and about a block later the car died instantly. There was no coughing or sputtering or trying to run. It was like unplugging something from the wall. It still turns over fine but doesn't even try to start at all.

So far I have checked every fuse both under the hood and inside the vehicle by pulling each one out and visually inspecting them. They are all good. Next I was going to see if I have any spark. How do I check for spark. Do I pull out a spark plug and with it still in the wire, hold it near the engine block to see if it sparks? Is there an easier way because I can't even see the spark plugs (must have to get under the car to see them)? Can I use some other type of tester on top of the coil? Also I'm not sure where the coil is but I think it's bolted to the front top of engine block. Is this right?

Thanks for your time, I really can't afford to have my vehicle towed in and checked right now because of the holidays.

My Blazer died about two weeks ago. I was driving along, stopped at a light and all of the sudden it shut off (motor). Lights and stuff remained on but engine died. I pushed the truck in parking lot and let it sit for a few hours while I wracked my brain trying to gfigure out the problem. In my case it was the alternator, the bearing burnt up and it seized. That's what made it die on me. Although it doesn't sound like your problem, it's just one other thing to check out. Your spark plugs are hidden on another planet :grinno: , you willl need to remove your front wheels to get at them if I remember correctly. I'm not sure how to check for spark on your truck; mine is a 1992, so it's pretty easy to mess with. I would say to visit your local parts store (stay away from dealerships unless it's still under warranty) and ask a few questions there. They should be able to help you out. :sunglasse
