F1 Book

Last night I decided to clear through a cupboard here and found this (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/compunightmare/MAC1.jpg) McLaren F1 book that I'd forgotten about.

The book is in mint condition and has never been opened. If anyone would like it, please make an offer. If nobody wants it, well ... it'll just go back in the cupboard.

I'm not a member of Ebay but I look at what's on there occasionally. The copies of this book I've seen on there have been read and aren't mint, so $30/$40 isn't bad for the condition.

Yes, it's a scan I did earlier. The reason why this one is in such good condition is because I have never opened it. I used to purchase literature to read, and copies to keep - those that I read became tatty and got thrown away .. I still have some of those I kept.

$30/$40 which people pay on Ebay for this item when it's not in mint condition, is £17/22. 15 Euros is just over £10. If nobody else makes a higher offer then as long as you cover postage and packing I may let you have it. I will not be sending this item until after Christmas though, because items tend to get lost at this time of year due to the huge amount of Christmas mail being sent.

I've never opened this copy so without doing that now and leafing through, I couldn't tell you how many photographs it contains. It has approximately 80 pages. It's around 10 years old.

Thanks for that suggestion - I was thinking about going to bed when I read your post, and after considering it ... and now looking at the time after scanning 47 pages of the book in, it's 4:30am here :D

I'll scan the rest of the book in later today and then upload the images to webspace. If I run into any problems due to lack of webspace, I'll let you know ( thanks ).

I don't think the price will go up much more, although I could be wrong ( depends how much people want it I guess ) .. so at the moment it's yours. After Christmas, whichever one of you has offered the most, gets it :)

You'd be surprised what motoring literature can be worth - I used to have stacks of the stuff but only have a few items remaining. Due to lack of room, I had to throw all of my literature away ... and guess what .. one of the items I threw away was an F1 sales catalogue. Makes a guy want to cry just thinking about it :D

Well I have one too, and I was personally disappointed when I received my copy. I think I paid $40 w/shipping and thought it wasn't worth it at the time.

Maybe for someone without "Driving Ambition" or who doesn't know a lot about the F1 in general it would be very special. Being that it was printed in 1994 it really doesn't cover any of the history of the cars, it's more like a basic overview of the road car.

I also didn't care much for the photography. Who takes a dark colored car and puts it in a darkened studio and expects it to look good. Also, the photos show it just sitting there and while the McLaren is nice to look at, some action shots would have fit the book much better in my opinion.

Maybe I should put my copy up for sale too seeing as how there are so many people willing to pay so much for one. :D

I'm in the UK. I'd have to weigh the book when packaged up, but shipping shouldn't be too expensive. Packing would be about £3.

Whomever has offered the highest "bid" by the end of the first week of January, can have it :)
