Motor no GO....

I had my escort warming up, while I was clearing off the snow the car just stopped.. lights and all electrical still on, engine just stopped.
Turn the key and car turns over but wont start.
However it sounds like the motor is just spinning and not compressing or anything.
I looked under timing cover and while being turned over , everything is spinning ( crank, water pump , ohc etc.etc ).
But like I said it just sounds like the motor is spinning around without any resistance.

Any help would be appreciated.

sounds mighty like the cam belt has slipped.check timing marks to make sure.

I thank you very much.. come to find out, the tensioner pulley is wooped, but it held just enough to give false diag.
