Transmission nightmare

I have a Problem even my dealer couldn't fix! They used a 1/4 tank of gas trying. HELP!!
I only have low and reverse on the trans.
I tried having the codes read but the code testers won't link up. Is this a common problem when the trans relay goes?
The check engine light is on and also the traction light and lock out light.
I have no history on the car.
I bought it burned and replaced all the wireing and the computer. The car wasn't burned very bad it didn't even hurt the paint.
I am finding that they are saying that there is a relay deep inside the trans that is bad which will cause it not to shift. but will this cause the code reader not to link up?
