Go the Salada box on wheels!!!! :p I swear Oz if you paid more than $3000 for that I'm going to take a Plane toSyndney and run you down with a COmmie-whore.
I was picturing a late-80's hatch when you said Corolla- those things are groovy.
I don't like the car (Opinions, eh?)- but I like the engine, the shiftknob and the head-deck, kinda is still a shock to the system- most of the Corollas of that age over here are either in the melter, or just about there..........
Still congratulations on your purchase and happy motoring!

 again guys. Jimmy and Moss - yes, still on P-Plates. That's a 3+ year system now, and I've only had my license for 2 years. I have quite a long list of things that need to be done:
-Minor rust repairs and repaint
-Air Con regas
-New steering wheel
-More of a stereo
-Full Whiteline suspension kit
-Tint the couple of windows that are missing it
-Top of dash replaced
-Seat covers
Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. It handles like a goddamn Go Kart. Absolutely no suspension travel (duh!) and sits very flat when punted hard through corners. Very much a sleeper. Have already surprised some people.

How do you shift with your right hand?
Seriously man, it's a piece of cake, I have driven both LH and RH drive cars with 5-speeds and it's no big deal. The gear box layout and pedal layout is the same, you just use the opposite hands to shift and steer.

good on ya, Oz. those cars are hunks of crap over here. yours looks right fast!
oh, and if you're selling the steering wheel, sell it on US ebay because only Canada, Japan and select others got those wheels on AE86's. they're highly sought after in the States.
cheers!

Getting everything fixed that I mentioned, getting a full Whiteline (www.whiteline.com.au) handling kit for it (that should raise it a bit too), finish the window tint, sports steering wheel, new seats, new speakers, a sub, an amp and possibly a respray. :)

what does "16 valve" mean? most old cars here have this label
hah, if a person who is used to a LHD car, he goes to japan and rents a RHD car. and just when he is passing by a bus stop, he forgets which side the stick is on, and he grabs the door handle, the door swings open, and a guy waiting at the bus stop gets a free flight into a shop's glass window

16 Valve means there are four valves per cylinder (In the case of a 4 cylinder- it is not possible on a 6 cylinder due to 16 not being divisible by six)
on each cylinder there are 2 inlet valves and 2 exhaust valves- which open and close the intake/inlet ports :)

I can't BELIEVE you had to explain that....but whatever...
stop dissin' Oz's car. Levins, Truenos, and Corollas are great machines, they dont have alot of understeer, plus some of them take stage 3 turbos quite well. :evillol:

Doesn't need a turbo. The car is mostly engine. With a new chip, will raise redline to 9,200 rpm. The race cams don't come on to about 5.5k. :D

The car starting to look good Oz. I was wondering, have you tested on a race track to see how fast it goes from 0-100 kmh?
Oz
12-23-2003, 03:32 AM
Nope. Beats a LOT of cars on the road. Beat a VTiR civic (B16A 6th gen), A CRX Del Slow, a Suzuki Swift GTi and a Commodore V8 and all with an almost busted second gear. Revs VERY cleanly to 8000rpm now, race cams start sounding good at 6k.

Those are some great kills- now race some real cars......:D
btw.....Was the Suzuki modded.......because it's still a 1.3 at the end of the day (bugger all torque) I don't think I've ever seen a Swift GTi, yet alone raced one- but I can't imagine them being all that fast, probably a blast to drive though.......
but the VTiR wasn't too bad of a kill :D and a Commodore is........well.......a Commodore, well I actually quite like Commodores, I drove a VX Acclaim Wagon along a twisty road once, was quite good for an Aussie barge.......certainly a lot better than that EF Fairmont (uuuugghhhhh Live Rear axle)
Still, the more I look at it, the more I think you made a good purchase, I say bring it over here and we can race 1980's beaters (When I get one) :D:D:D:D

:D GTi's are quickish, but even without using second (first, redline, third, gone) he got blown. The only visible mod was a fart pipe, but I suspect that's all he had.

Actually it probably was since I drive a poverty-spec base-model Civic that's nearing it's 10th birthday- but I'm selling up- as much as I am beginning to like it- I like the prospect of gonig to Uni more.........Then when I'm out of Uni with my (Insert heavily depriciated Kruat-super-car here) we'll play for real :D
