most recent camaro v6's were 3.8 series II. (l36) its only 200 hp and 225 lb/ft torque. Its a heavy car for a v6 i think its supposed to run 16's. Could be wrong.

He brought up his 305 beating a Type R, because a 305 third-gen and a 98+ V6 Camaro run about the same times. Everyone else in the thread just made the distinction.

Im guessing the B18C5 is better just because its what comes in the Type R's

The integra type-r (ITR) has the 195hp b18c5 motor. Limited slip, better suspenstion. The GSR makes something like 170hp. I would think the GSR would win since i have heard alot of people the have jbodies say both the v6 mustang and camaro are easy snacks for them. and i would think the GSR would smoke a jbody since they have 20 more hp. Also about someone beating a ITR, where they sleeping, was it some ricer with a base model integra and made it look like an ITR. You would have no chance. I have a friend that has a 305 in his camaro and i walked on him from a roll the whole time (i have a 5speed grand am with the 2.4 quad4)

I have a W body. (grand prix, monte) With the L36 and I'll definetly smoke any v6 stang or camaro. I even beat 4.6 mustangs.

isnt that the same motor in the v6 camaro? So how do you figure you could beat a rear wheel drive car that weighs less.

the B18C5 is better because it is a 1.8 and has more torque over the 1.6L B16B but getting 185 HP out of a NA 1.6 liter is damn good IMO, even if you have to rev the hell out of it. Id love to drive a car with a B16B, and this engine comes in a type R as well, the CTR(civic type R). now the CTR has a K20 though. but if you want a FAST car go with LS and boost it(alright ill quit, im forgetting im not in the honda forums anymore and I doubt you guys in here are looking to get an integra :icon16: )
but I think the GSR would win if the camaro v6 you are speaking of is any where similar to a 95 V6 in performance because I had one of those and it hung with my 94 LS til I hit 4k and then I just pulled on the stang like mad. so a GSR would rape it on the top end. and a heavy camaro with a lil v6 wouldnt have a chance against a ITR.

Just line the two cars up and see for your self. Thats the only way to do it...... 98GPGT... The new grand prix and Regal's are called W bodies? Cool I kinda wondered what they called them after they got rid of the G-body.

yeah, i realized that he was asking about the V6, but the 305 made 170hp, while new gen V6's put out around 200hp, so i thought it was a fair comparison :) oh and 92RS i assume that when you say your 305 is no where near a 3.8, its because your saying your 305 is wayyyyyyy more powerfull :) SAVY?!?!?!

I thought you couldn't get a type R civic here in the states. I was under the impression that it wouldn't pass inpsection here.

The B18C5 obviously has more displacement, and everyone knows the saying, even if it is only 200 cc's. The integra type r is the civics bigger brother and will beat it again and again with equal or near equal drivers. You can import both engines however, but it is expensive. If you know your quarter mile times you should be able to figure it out based on everyone saying that a 92-93 gsr will run about 15.2-15.3, a 94-95 running about a 15.4, and the 96-01s running about a 15.5

some one raced a ricer in a ls teg with type r decal... A real type r teg will runs like 14.9 bone stock according to motor trend or road and track..Ive seen them run like 14.7 at the track my self...so the 305 tbi would be in the dust...305 tbi blows..tuned port is the real deal...or just get a carbed 350..GSR should win if its a older 6cyl f body

If you want a realy fast n/a import fwd...get a 88-89 CRX HF (lightest 2nd gen) build a b20 vtec...that would be hella quick...oh well like you said this isnt a honda forum... :banghead:

because of the hp to weight ratio, you would prolly see the GS-R give a pretty good run to even the newest v6 fbodies.
V6 4th gen fbody - 3300lbs. / 200hp. = ~16.5 lbs/hp
GSR - 2700lbs. / 170hp = ~15.9 lbs/hp
Now, the fbody will have a bit more torque though, so it'll get going a bit quicker, but it would be a pretty close race... Anything earlier than the 3.8 series II 6-bang motor in the fbody, and the gsr is goign to win...
And yes, the gsr would probably take a 305tbi, sorry to say...

lol, no no, im totally sure it would kill a stock 305TBI, not one like 92RS has, but for the rest of us. the gsr would probly win, just cuz the 305, as i have always said, is a boat ancher, i just try to defend her honor, kinda like the fat girl that everyone picks one. hey 92RS, guess that means you like big women, and they like you :)

Well for one an l36 grand prix wont beat a v6 camaro unless the driver is doing something wrong. Its a different story if it were the grand prix gtp with the l67 but thats not the case. I have taken the non-superchared prix before and beaten them. And as far as the GS-R debate goes, yeah, it would be a close call but I believe that in the end the camaro would come out as the victor. My buddy is getting a GS-R real soon and I will be able to tell you that that goes down because we do plan on racing one day.

As much of a Camaro lover I am I think the GS-R will win at the end because of it's weight advantage. The Camaro has abit more torque, yes, but it's still heavy when compared to the 2,700lb. Integra. It's all good though, don't worry.
