yep, thats it, im looking for a good motor, either a DET ro just a DE. If its a DE, I dont need everything else attached, ie. trans ecu etc. If it is the DET, would need all the extras.

well i got the new Import Tuner today.. the May 2001 issue and in the "going postal" section, some one asked about the same thing...

Import Tuner suggested contacting V Spec @ 626-813-9991 for an SR20DET since they import tons of JDM Nissan stuff or K Watanabe @ 800-592-8262 for a GTi-R engine...

also in the issue....

on page 98 there is none other than JWT's SR20DE turbo kit. only 6.5 psi, but the kit does state its a starter kit. if you're wondering it brings 177 hp to the wheels

I just called Longuasa and they qouted me 2600 for the det and 1200 for the install....

It is little more than 1500

you can get the motor for cheaper... the quote of $2600 is actually for the motor, ecu, wiring harness, and trans... all you need is the motor... the ecu will need to be reprogrammed if you want a decent boost level... and you'll also need to fabricate intercooler plumbing and get a new intercooler... also make sure you specify you want the AWD DET motor.. the RWD is of no use to you... the AWD mounts sideways like your current DE motor, as the RWD DET mounts long ways...

expect to pay around $4500 or more for the motor, intercooler, custom piping, re-mapped ecu, install...

That sounds about right b-boogie
most places sells the FF det motor for 1700-2200 depending on condition and mileage. VSpec is almost like Nissan tuning god, I work with them a couple of times but they are VERY tight about information....if you just walk in and say you want to buy a DET motor..they'll go.."what's that?" even though there's about 6 DET powered silvias parking outside....however, they do mostly FR dets though.
During the summer time, I will let all of you know the progress of my det motor and the installation job. If you have a p11, all you need is the motor, you can use your stock ecu and harness like what b-boogie said because the FF DE and DET are both distributor type so the harness is the same. You don't need a "det" tranny cuz the DE tranny is essentially the same (the housing is the same so the det motor bolts straight on)..only difference is some internal parts (awd det tranny's internal is a bit stronger) and the gear ratio is a bit different. However, if you plan on staying below 300hp, our tranny would be plenty enough...and we got LSD!
I can also get motors but for probably around the same price as anywhere else...although I can do a pre-inspection first hehe :D
hmm...seems like i am always trying to sell stuff on this board haha..but its just that i always want to get different things for my car...anyway, ifyou wanna wait, i will be selling my DE motor after this summer once my DET goes in....:frog:

my question for you Luke is... what will you do when you're borderline 300hp? ...i know you have the DET and the JUN 2.2L stroker kit waiting... and I know you'll throw in some other mods.. so I'm sure 300hp isnt too far away.... what about the tranny then??
